Derek walked into the kitchen where Mark was reading the paper.

Mark looked up as Derek poured coffee and said, "Good morning sleepy head."

Derek yawned and said, "Since you're on the front page of the paper, I'm guessing you just got up yourself."

Mark laughed and said, "Busted! I did just get up. We haven't slept in this late since....last year."

Derek sat down and Mark slid over a part of the paper to him.

Mark asked, "Where's Mer?"

Derek smiled and said, "She is still out like a light. I decided to just let her sleep in. The only thing she had planned for today was to see her mother and pack."

Mark asked, "What do you think about what Montgomery said about Burke last night?"

Derek chuckled and asked, "You mean about being on the down low?"

"Yeah. He hasn't struck me as being gay. I mean he was with Yang and now he is with that nurse."

Derek shrugged his shoulders and said, "I guess that's the point on being on the down low. You're gay, but you fake it for appearances sake. I don't know or care if he is or isn't."

Mark said "Well I care. I'm not going in the shower at work when he is in there. You know, come to think of it. I did catch him once checking out my.........."

"Little Sloan?"

"Big Sloan!"

Derek laughed and said, "Don't worry about it. Anyway, he is with Rose."

Mark sneered and said, "Probably not for long if he is straight."

Derek asked, "What do you know?"

"We had sex. Once. Pedestrian, boring missionary sex. She was like cheap light beer. I couldn't get out of her apartment fast enough."

Derek laughed and asked, "Have you gone through all the nurses in the hospital?"

Mark sneered and said, "Not all of them. But there is a fresh batch every year!"

Derek got up and poured them both more coffee and sat back down.

Derek asked, "What about what Yang said about DePalma fucking Addison in the ass?"

Mark said, "Makes sense now. She was getting all the surgeries and she was crap. I kinda suspected that they were doing each other. And Yang said something at Joe's one night that may have hinted at that. And Meredith didn't look surprised at that news at all. I'm curious about the blackmail business. Do you think that's why DePalma suddenly started giving Mer and Yang surgeries? I can so see Yang blackmailing that old goat."

Derek ran his hand through his hair and said, "Jesus. I hope it was Yang that caught them in the act and not Meredith. She doesn't need any more traumas in her life!"

Mark said seriously, "Mer's tougher than she looks."

"That may be, but I still worry about her. Listen. Do you have time now to go get our cars at the hospital?"

"Yeah. Let's stop and get some breakfast on the way home." They both got up and headed for the garage.

Meredith woke up slowly and stretched. She glanced at the clock a little shocked at how long she had slept.[i] She wondered why Derek hadn't woken her up.[/i] She got out of bed and put a robe on and went downstairs.
