He shook his wrist and blood poured out onto the floor. Derek said, "I'll get the first aid kit." He ran to the laundry room. Cristina searched frantically for a clean dish towel to apply pressure. Meredith slid down the wall and hugged herself and rocked slowly. She cried softy, "No...no....no....no."

Derek ran back into the kitchen and opened up the first aid kit. Cristina said loudly, "Stay still you big baby! I need to apply pressure."

Mark yelled, "Mother fucker that hurts!" It was like a giant paper cut across his wrist.

Derek glanced around for Meredith and saw her out of the corner of his eye. "Meredith!"

She was sitting on the floor rocking herself and crying softy.

Derek saw that Yang had it under control and went over to Meredith quickly. He bent down and asked, "Meredith! Are you okay? What's wrong baby?"

Meredith's eyes were glazed over and she kept saying, "No...no...no...no..."

Cristina and Mark became silent as they watched Meredith. Mark asked quietly, "What's going on Mer?"

Derek touched her shoulder lightly and said softly, "Meredith. It's okay. Mark's not bleeding anymore and Cris has it under control. It's okay baby." He watched terrified as tears streamed their way down her face.

Meredith fixated her eyes on the blood and said in a child like voice. "It's getting closer to me....have to call...have to call 911."

Mark said confused, "Mer. It's not that bad. I don't need 911. It was a lot of blood, but it's stopped now and I am fine."

"I'm going.... to be sitting.... in it soon...have to call soon...need to call 911."

Derek stroked her hair unsure what to do. Realization hit Cristina and she said sharply while she held Mark's wrist, "Derek. Get a red or brown towel and cover up the blood! She can't see the blood!"

Derek asked, "What?" He didn't want to leave Meredith for a second.

"Just do it! You know where everything is! Don't waste time. Go!"

Derek ran upstairs to the hall closet and started throwing everything on the floor. He grabbed a dark brown bath sheet and ran back to the kitchen. He threw it over the blood and watched as Meredith visibly calmed down. He sat down next to her and gently stroked her shoulder. Cristina said, "Meredith. Listen to me. I will get it all cleaned up. You will never even know it was there. I promise. I'll take care of it."

Derek and Mark looked at each other confused. Mark lifted off the dish towel and examined his wrist. It wasn't that big of a cut, but it had bleed like a bitch. He was only concerned about Meredith now.

He asked, "Derek?"

Derek looked at Meredith and saw that her color was coming back. She had been completely drained of color of few minutes earlier. He checked her pulse and it was normal. Her eyes were becoming more like her usual.

Derek shrugged his shoulders. Cristina kept her eyes on Meredith while she cleaned and dressed Mark's wound. She shuttered a little when she remembered her own flashback with blood. No one realized how much blood a body could hold. And it always dried a hideous brown, not red like everyone thought.

Mark looked down at Yang and asked softy, "Are you okay?"

Cristina replied sarcastically, "Yeah. You're the injured one here."

He said softy as he inclined his head towards Meredith, "I'm not so sure."

Cristina glanced over at the floor and saw that the towel was indeed concealing all the blood. But the floor would need to be cleaned.
