As they walked thru the hospital parking lot Derek asked, "So tonight. Which would you prefer? Dinner at home cooked by me or a nice restaurant?"

Meredith replied, "Well, we do have an early shift tomorrow. I think I'd rather stay at home."

"Okay. What would you like?"

"Oh Derek. You don't have to cook. You made me a great breakfast! We can just get takeout on the way home."

Derek said, "I got a box from my mom yesterday. Red sauce."

Meredith said, "Really?"

Derek laughed and asked, "Second chance. Lasagna?"

Meredith licked her lips. "Um....that does sound good."

Derek said, "Lasagna it is. You know. I was going to throw a party for you at Joe's or something."

Meredith stopped walking and said panicky, "What!"

Derek cupped her face with one hand and said, "Calm down Mer. There is no party. Yang talked me out of it."

She relaxed and asked, "Cris knows? Who else?"

They started walking again and he replied, "Preston and Owen maybe. They might have been there when Mark and I were talking."

"Oh that's okay I guess. I just...."

He squeezed her hand and said, "I know Mer."

They got to the locker room and changed quickly. Addison walked in and they both ignored her. Cristina and Burke walked in and also changed quickly. Mark came in just ahead of Bailey. He was already in his scrubs.

Cristina shut her locker and said softy, "Happy birthday Meredith. I know what Derek got you!"

Meredith said surprised, "You do?"

"Well you are oozing sex today. You had wake up sex."

Meredith giggled and said, "Um....yeah."

Dr. Bailey scowls at them. "I'm not interrupting am I?"

Cristina shakes her head no and Meredith says softy, "No Dr. Bailey."

"Good. Now I need a volunteer for the pit." Cristina shoots her hand up quickly and Dr. Bailey says, "Go." Cristina runs out.

"Now I need a volunteer to go down to the basement and retrieve a file from the file room."

Derek had gone to stand behind Meredith.

"Come on people. It's not just about the cutting. There is a lot of paperwork involved in medicine." Dr. Bailey eyed them all and settled on Grey.[i] She'd been there before and wouldn't screw off.[/i] Derek felt Meredith shutter a little and remembered[i] how much the place had creeped her out. [/i]He said, "I'll do it Dr. Bailey."

Surprised Dr. Bailey handed him the information he needed and said, "Check with me when you find it." Derek left and Meredith mouthed [i]thanks.[/i]

Dr. Bailey said, "Okay then. Grey you're in gynie. Burke. You get cardio today. Sloan. You get the burn unit and Montgomery. You get to hang with me today. Let's move people."

A few hours before the end of their shift, Derek found Meredith at the nurses station.

"Hey."

"Hey yourself. Listen I got someone to cover my last two hours. I'm going home to start our dinner."
