After they had eaten, Derek went upstairs for a few minutes while Meredith cleared their dishes. Then they both cleaned the kitchen laughing and joking with each other.

Derek asked suggestively, "What do you want to do with the rest of the evening? Burn off those calories?"

Meredith smirked, "Maybe we should study?"

Derek scoffed, "On your birthday? Um.....I can think of better things to do."

She suggested, "Maybe just read and snuggle and go to bed early. Sleep?"

"Sounds good to me."

They walked upstairs and Meredith stepped into the softy candle lit room. [i]The bed held more gifts.[/i]

"Seriously? Derek Shepherd! What have you done?"

Derek pressed himself behind her and whispered, "You don't think your birthday is over yet do you?"

Meredith leaned back into him and ..........stared at the sight before her.

Derek nibbled on her earlobe and said, "I know you didn't want a big party, but I thought maybe a private party...........just the two of us?"

Meredith was speechless. [i]What could she say? She had never seen so many gifts.[/i]

Derek pulled her to the bed and said impatiently, "Come on Mer. I can't wait! Open up."

She sat down on the bed and Derek did the same. She looked at all the gifts so exquisitely wrapped.

Derek kissed her gently and said, "Get comfy Mer." Meredith sat on the bed and stretched her legs out.

He handed her a present and she smiled. The tiny card said;[i] you always smell so good.[/i]

She slowly unwrapped it and saw that it was her favorite perfume.

She said softy, "Thank you Derek."

He kissed her quickly as he got comfortable on the bed. He said seductively, "I love your natural smell the best."

She giggled at him as he handed her another gift. The card said;[i] everybody needs a good lickin.[/i] Meredith raised her eyebrow. She opened it up and saw a body paint kit with templates and brushes.

She laughed and said, "Dirty boy!" She kissed him gently. She thought to herself, [i]birthdays are fun![/i]

Derek smirked and said, "We'll probably have to wait until our days off to use it. Because after we'll need a long, long shower. And we need chocolate from Izzie. She says the stuff that comes with the kit is crap."

Derek handed her another present. She said, "Derek. You got me too many things! What were you thinking?"

Giving her the McDreamy look he replied, "I wanted you to have a special day Meredith filled with things I hope you like."

She opened the card that said; [i]you're silkier than these. [/i]Meredith kissed him gently and unwrapped the box. She lifted off the tissue paper and inside was indigo silk pajamas. She lifted them out and rubbed them across his face.

Derek said, "Um......I prefer you naked, but these work for me too. I know there are some nights when you have to wear something."

"I love them Derek. Thanks so much!"

Impatiently Derek said, "Okay here is the next one." He handed her a large present. She opened the card and it said;[i] to wrap around your temptress body with all my love.[/i] She gently tore the paper and opened it up. Inside was a charcoal gray cashmere robe.
