At the Kim Residence

It had been three months since Jin was discharged from the hospital. The doctors said he had completely lost his memories, something Ryeowook had anticipated. As a doctor himself, Ryeowook knew how severe the accident had been, and the fact that Jin had survived with only minor injuries was nothing short of a miracle. Still, Jin was struggling to adjust, finding it hard to get out of bed most days. The trauma of the accident lingered, even if the memories of it were lost.

Ryeowook tried his best not to bring up the accident, hoping that with time, Jin would find the strength to move forward. Today, he decided to try something different. He gently knocked on Jin's door before stepping inside. Jin was, as usual, sitting by the window, lost in thought.

"Jin, would you like to go out to dinner with me?" Ryeowook asked softly. When there was no response, he approached and tapped Jin gently on the shoulder.

"Oh, Hyung," Jin murmured, startled from his thoughts. "I didn't hear you come in. What did you say?"

"I was asking if you'd like to go out for dinner. It's okay if you don't feel up to it. I can always cook something for us at home," Ryeowook offered, his voice filled with understanding.

Jin hesitated, his fingers nervously fidgeting. He still wasn't comfortable with the idea of going out. The thought of being around people, of facing the world outside, made his chest tighten. But he didn't want to disappoint his brother.

"I'll try," Jin said, his voice barely above a whisper. "But if I'm not comfortable, can we come back?"

"Of course," Ryeowook replied with a reassuring smile. "We'll come back the moment you want to. Get ready; we'll leave at six." Jin nodded, a small glimmer of determination in his eyes.

At Yoongi's Café

Sungmin arrived at the café, balancing a box of groceries. He was surprised to find the doors locked, especially since it was only one in the afternoon. He fished out his phone and called Yoongi, curiosity piqued.

"Hey, Yoongi, are you closed today? I'm at the front with the groceries you ordered," Sungmin said as soon as Yoongi picked up.

"Hyung, sorry! I'm here, just give me a sec," Yoongi responded hurriedly. A moment later, the door swung open, and Yoongi ushered Sungmin inside.

"Sorry about that, Hyung. My staff didn't come in today, and I'm out of most ingredients. Even the bakery I get my pastries from is closed for their anniversary," Yoongi explained as he helped Sungmin carry the groceries to a table near the counter.

"You know, Yoongi, maybe it's time you hired your own pastry chef. Your café is doing really well, and I think you can afford it," Sungmin suggested as he unpacked the groceries.

"I know, Hyung, but finding the right person isn't easy," Yoongi replied, sighing.

Sungmin paused, a thoughtful look on his face. "Actually, my friend's brother just graduated from pastry school. He's incredibly talented but recently woke up from a coma after an accident. I'm not sure if he's ready to work again, but I could ask."

Yoongi's eyes lit up. "That sounds perfect, Hyung! If he's interested, tell him to come by. We'll see what we can do."

Before Sungmin could leave, Yoongi handed him a paper bag filled with cookies and a new coloring book. Sungmin chuckled, shaking his head. "You really spoil Yeerin, you know that?"

Yoongi grinned. "I bought one for Jimin the other day, and I couldn't help but get one for Yeerin too. She's been a lifesaver with Jimin."

Sungmin smiled, touched by Yoongi's thoughtfulness. "Thanks, Yoongi. I'll head home now. Yeerin wasn't feeling too well this morning, and I want to check on her. Call me if you need anything."

Yoongi nodded as Sungmin headed out, already thinking about the possibilities of having a new pastry chef.

At the Restaurant

The drive to the restaurant was quiet, but Ryeowook didn't mind. He was just grateful that Jin had agreed to come. They pulled up to a familiar spot, a restaurant they had frequented with friends during their university days. Ryeowook had chosen a private area, knowing that too many people might overwhelm Jin.

As they entered, they were greeted by Sungmin, who had just arrived. "Sorry, Hyung, we're late," Ryeowook said, giving his friend a quick hug.

"Not at all. I just got here myself," Sungmin replied with a warm smile. He turned to Jin, who managed a small, polite smile in return. "It's good to see you, Jin."

They settled in, and Sungmin handed the menu to Jin. "I've already ordered a few things, but feel free to add anything else," he said. Jin nodded, glancing over the menu, though he had little appetite.

As they ate, the conversation flowed mostly between Ryeowook and Sungmin, with Jin occasionally nodding or offering a short response. For Ryeowook, it was enough. He had half expected Jin to want to leave as soon as they arrived, but his brother stayed through the entire meal.

As they made their way to the parking lot after dinner, Sungmin turned to Jin. "Jin, I mentioned this to Ryeowook earlier, but I have a friend who just opened a café near your place. He's looking for a pastry chef. Here's his card. If you're interested, you can give him a call or drop by for an interview."

Jin took the card, holding it gingerly. "Thank you, Hyung. I'll think about it."

Sungmin placed a comforting hand on Jin's shoulder. "Don't stress about it, okay? Just take your time. And if you ever want to talk or need anything, don't hesitate to reach out. It was really great to have you join us tonight."

Jin nodded, feeling a small but significant warmth from the gesture. "Thank you, Hyung. I appreciate it."

As they said their goodbyes, Sungmin gave Jin a quick hug. "Take care of yourself, okay? And keep that smile of yours—it's what we all want to see."

With that, Ryeowook and Jin headed back to the car. For the first time in a long while, Jin felt a flicker of hope. Maybe, just maybe, he was ready to take the next step forward.
