Mel's POV

I was walking with my darling down the large extravagant streets of Piltover, a light hand of the small of their back while we walked around the open shops looking at things. They were looking at a pretty jewelry box with two people dancing together in it. I smiled at them and was about to pay for it. We had a much larger hand placed the money down saying, "There you go little one." Immediately recognizing the hand and voice I look up trying to keep the anger off my face while in front of the shopkeeper.
"Mother... What are you doing here? I thought you left yesterday." I asked during her week-long visit Ambessa had come to see me a few times after her first visit though I doubt it was really to see me, but I had been keeping my darling away from her having her leaving before she came in or shortly after.

"I was, but I heard your Piltover was having a cute little open market, so I decided to stay a little longer." She explained meaning she assumed I would be going and bringing them with me. Looking back over at them I watched as they put the jewelry box in a bag filled with other things I had bought them throughout the day, disgust crawling over me at the thought of them owning something my mother bought for them making a mental note to buy them a better one from the same artist.

"Well if that is all them we will leave you to that, good day Mother." I replied coolly. Before we could walk away she put a hand in between Y/n's shoulder blades guiding her in a different direction.
"Actually I was hoping that our little Y/n could show me around." She said over her shoulder as she walked away forcing me to follow, not being able to help how my lips twitched down into a frown.

After thirty dreadful minutes filled with Ambessa flirting with my darling, their face flush, having to pull them away and walking between them multiple times my mother clearly not getting the hint or more likely she just didn't care.
We ended up walking along the pier, the ocean sounds and salty breeze helping to calm me. Smiling, I looked at Y/n who was swinging their arms as we walked since they had been liberated of the heavy bags by my mother. At least they were happy. Suddenly they stopped turning to the ocean I was about to ask why when they grabbed my hand and dragged me toward the ocean pointing, "Mel look flying fish." I looked to the ocean and I did in fact see a large school of flying fish though my attention was quickly diverted from the fish to my hand that was clasped in theirs, I could feel my cheeks heating up.

I think they felt my staring because they too looked down at our hands immediately looking embarrassed trying to pull their hand from mine muttering, "Sorry." while looking away before they could pull away fully I gripped their hand tighter and placing my other hand over theirs.

"Don't be sorry, love, I like holding your hand." I reassured, smiling kindly at them. They sputtered something I couldn't understand, but tightened their grip on my hand. My mother must have noticed too because I could hear her grumble something quietly. Maybe it was because I was already agitated because I thought she would be gone by now or because I had to deal with her flirty and trying to steal them away from me for a week now, but I turning around sharply hand still in their's snapping, "Is there something you need Medardaor or you still insist on following me around ruining my time with my darling?"

She seemed quite shocked at my small outburst, probably assuming I wouldn't talk this way in front of them. She always was underestimating me. "Mel," she had the audacity to sound surprised, "I was only trying to spend time with my daughter..." she sent Y/n a long stare with and a wink, "and your lovely assistant. But if you're really so upset about me being here then I suppose I can go." Sauntering to Y/n she not so gently took her hand from mine bending down to kiss it. "If you ever get bored of this dreadful city... Or anything else then send me a message and I'll get you on the next flight to Noxus, okay little one?" She said running her calloused thumb over their knuckles. They nodded numbly their face on fire I could feel the heat from here.

As she walked away I was fuming the nerve of her some- "Mel?" I whipped around to look at them, "are you okay?" Pressing my lips together I nodded. "Why are you so upset then I know you're not your mom's biggest fan, but you've been a little more agitated since she's arrived."

"I think my mother has made her intentions with you very clear," they nod, "and I..." I step closer, "I just can't stand the idea of her taking you away from me, you're my everything Darling." When I cupped their cheek in my hand I could feel the heat coming off it easily, "I didn't want to ask this sense I am your boss and I hated the idea of you thinking I was trying to force you into anything, but will you be mine... forever?"

Their eyes went wide blinking a few times and I feared I scared them off frowning deeply. I was about to take my hand off their face. They put their hand over and broke into a smile, "I would love to Mel." they took their free hand and cupped the back of my neck leaning in and kissing me, their slightly chapped, but still soft as a pillow moving against mine. Moving so i was cupping both their cheeks in my hands deepening the kiss. They hummed satisfiedly before breaking away from my chasing their lips for a millisecond. They giggled and rested their head on my shoulder.

I couldn't help breaking into a smile holding them close by the waist. All I could think was that they were finally mine and no one could take them away, not even my mother.
