The room is spinning, spinning, spinning and my head is pounding, pounding, pounding. I wasn't even sure if I had woken up yet. The aftermath of the jin poison was settling in, probably. The hammering was slow at first, like a massive bell tolling right at my skull. I tried as hard as I could to keep from swaying, pushing my hands hard against the floor I was laying on, trying to get up right, but then the pounding got erratic. It went faster, harder, insistent like an exploding heartbeat.
From my peripheral vision, I saw Sam hurry to his brother, who just began stirring after I did, opening one eye after the other.
"Dean, Dean hey!" Sam shouted, Dean's face in his hands, panic strewn all over his features. It was etched into the worried creases of his forehead, in the wideness of his eyes, like something bad was happening, has been happening.
I took a closer look at Sam and knew I was right. He was bleeding from under his eye and his lip, like he'd been punched twice. His hair was airy like he dodged a few more, his breathing heavy like it all happened less than a few minutes ago.
The unfamiliar corpse that sat in the middle of the room was the biggest giveaway. His demise seemed to have followed the angel blade sized hole in his chest. Sam was responsible, telling by the blade slick with fresh blood in his hands. But I knew the battle was far from over.
The room was vibrating, subtly, but it was still shaking. Shattered glass scattered beneath the windows sills. What was left of the windows was stained with blood-drawn sigils. More of the same ones were painted on the walls, and the only different one was sloppily painted on the floor.
Slowly awakening into clarity, Dean's eyes scanned the room and then his brother before asking breathlessly, "What the hell happened?"
"Angels," Sam swallowed, unable to catch his breath, desperate to spit out the warning. "Angels everywhere, showed up all of a sudden. I fought with four of them, managed to get one and blasted the rest. There's more out in the waiting room. One of them mentioned something about Cas, Dean. I think they might have him."
"Is he alright?" I broke in, anxiety and horror twisting my face.
Sam looked at me for the first time since I opened my eyes. His weighed me for a moment, sadness washing over his face as he replied, "I don't know."
He turned to Dean again. What the hell are we going to do? he asked him with his eyes, but Dean turned to me.
We locked gazes for a moment. My eyes flickered downwards, away, even though he stared for a moment longer. I knew he wanted to talk about what he saw, and I knew he would bring it up later. I hoped later would never come. Dean's eyes zoned out for moment before focusing again, confusion pulling his eyebrows together at what he realized.
"The camp—it was filled with kids—"
"Dean, I don't think there's anybody here."
"Wait...are you saying—"
"This was a trap," I breathed, understanding. "They wanted us to come here. Smart too, did you see the drive up here? We're isolated, we can't get help even if we wanted to." I watched as the horror settled on both of their faces, watched them as they both came to the same conclusion. We were outnumbered. Out gunned. We might lose. Or worse, we might lose someone.
