Ever since I drained Cas, I never stopped bleeding. It was getting annoying.
I would be minding my own business and suddenly I'd feel a strong wave of fatigue wash over me and the blood would trickle down my nose. I wiped it away quickly and fetched the box Dean was looking for from the storage room.
We were all flipping through some old files at the bunker, hoping to find a reason for monsters to be depressed.
"Found something," Sam called, and started reading the file in his hands out loud. "It says here that a vetala voluntarily came to the bunker begging for her death."
"How come?"
Sam closed the file with a very worried expression. "Her alpha was trying to recruit her to a gang that was snatching children and she wanted a quiet life."
My heartbeat quickened. "So you think Alec is doing the same thing? Recruiting monsters? Why?" I already knew the answer. To kill me. To take over the world.
"Jus take it easy," Dean started. "No one said anything about Alec yet. The next time we catch a citizen fang we have a little counseling session, see what's bothering them. Let's not jump to conclusions."
"I'm coming with you on the next hunt."
"There's no need. We'll take—"
"I'm coming."
Dean glared at me for a second longer. "Follow me." He got up without another word and started making his way down the hallway.
I furrowed my eyebrows, but Sam rolled his eyes and called, "That never works!"
****
"Go ahead." Dean held out a gun.
The bunker had a shooting range, apparently. I don't know why that surprised me.
I couldn't fight the smile that formed on my lips. "Are you kidding?"
He crossed his arms. "Does it look like I'm kidding?"
"Dean...I drained the Alpha. I drained Cas. I could see miles ahead of me, I could hear squirrels digging their teeth into acorns in the forest. I could punch through the sidewalk, I could rip your bones out of your flesh. I don't need a gun."
He tossed the gun aside and nodded. "Okay. Then what are your weak points?"
"I don't have any," I grinned.
"You were bleeding on the first day, did that happen again?"
"N-no." I was caught off guard.
"So...yes."
"It's nothing," I rolled my eyes.
"When do you bleed?"
"I don't—" He cut me off with a look. I sighed. "Usually after I practice. Sometimes randomly."
"Practice?" He repeated scoldingly, "Cas hasn't been here for two days."
"Yeah. I practice outside of Cas because I'm terrified that a demon child is out to get me, sue me."
"Alright, so until we figure out why you're bleeding then you can't use your powers on hunts."
"Why!"
"Because," his voice got louder, "If we're fighting something and you fall because you're bleeding—than that's a huge weak spot for all of us. You could get me and Sam killed trying to save you!"
"Okay," I sighed.
"Because you ca—really? Wow, I was really prepared to fight you on that one." He shrugged with a small smile. "I wanted to show you a few tricks you could use during a fight."
