"Kyle, that's not even her anymore, what you're defending is a monster!"
"You take a single god damn step and your warm body will hit the ground before you could choke on god's name." My dad's voice was steadily rising, but for now it was threatening, low.
Uncle Jason took a step forward. "Kyle, brother, this is hard on you and we know it. So you go upstairs and we'll finish the job. Take care of the body and everything."
"NO, DAMNIT! DO YOU HEAR WHAT I'M SAYING, I SAID NO!" His voice shook the room and the room beside it. "Any of you half brained shits take a single step forward so help me—"
Uncle Derek was the one that did it. He didn't say anything; his face was like stone. His heart was ice, assuming he had one. He pulled the trigger with a brave face, pointed it right at my head. I was hiding behind my dad, a crying, trembling mess. My dad didn't flinch. And I could see it now from this angle, the moment he realized it was too late. He didn't hesitate. He puffed out his chest and took the bullet for me.
"The graceless angel is going to die next," Death began, pulling my attention back to him. "Then Sam, and then Dean, and lastly, I reap the prophet myself."
"I won't let them die." I spoke through my teeth, a small tremor in my voice.
"Apparently, you do. You're going to wait until it's too late. You're never going to mend things with Cas, and he's going to need your help, but he's not going to ask. Sam will get burned alive until he turns blacker than a charcoal, courtesy to Hell's Child. Dean will be devoured alive by a herd of one hundred vampires. And the prophet will get mauled by a hell hound. And you...you will out live them all because I will refuse to reap you and will forbid anyone from reaping you."
"Why?" I whispered.
"Because you deserve it. You had a responsibility and you failed. You deserve to watch Alec tear your world to pieces, and you deserve to live with the guilt."
It took me a few seconds to decide. "What do you want me to do."
"You know what you have to do."
"I can't do that," I argued. "I can't take someone's life like that, I can't."
"Then watch them all die."
"How could you even ask this from me?" I tried to swallow back the tears. "You're Death, for god's sake, shouldn't you value how much a soul is worth? Why are you doing this?"
"You don't want to know." He didn't explain.
"Well that cleared everything right up." A tear escaped me despite my efforts.
"This is part of the reason why you were supposed to mature in heaven. So you wouldn't develop feelings for your food. Which is why the Winchesters and the prophet are no good to you anymore. You cannot afford to be manipulated."
I let out a bitter laugh. "Sort of like what you did?" He gave me a look.
"I'm not leaving them!" I replied incredulously.
"Then I will take them," he said simply.
"That's not fair!" I burst childishly.
"Life's. Not. Fair." He enunciated every word slowly, locking me in a merciless glare. "You're Heaven's Child you don't have a choice. You are meant to protect and nothing else." He leaned back in his chair and tilted his chin up. "I'll be checking in on you. Soon." I looked away and swallowed the lump in my throat. "It would be very unwise of you to disappoint me." I didn't look at him while Death stood up and disappeared.
I sat there for a few minutes in the deafening silence before a few more tears escaped me. I closed my eyes. The image of my dad's still body burned in my mind, tearing the whole in my chest wide open all over again.

I woke up coughing.
Cas was the one who responded first, handing me the black bin. Kevin immediately poured me a cup of water and Sam and Dean hovered behind them both.
I downed it hungrily, accepting the second cup he poured and I drank it just as fast.
"What happened?" Cas asked, still bloody. But I ignored him because I realized something much worse.
"Graceless."
"What?"
"Death called you graceless. When Metatron cast the angels out, you said they didn't have a grace."
His smile was broken. "I have a grace."
"But it's not yours. And it's dying out." Sam spoke up.
"Dying out, what does that mean?" I asked quickly.
"Means that sooner or later it's going to finish," Dean spoke with a sigh from behind me, giving Cas a look.
"Okay, last drop finishes, and?"
"And then Cas is human." Dean looked away from Cas to look at me. "Means he could get hurt. Bleed. Die."
"I'm not going to die."
"Cas—" Dean started, but I was shouting before he could.
"Of course you're going to die! The entire cast of Dogma is after you and you won't stand a chance as a human!"
"I'll look for my grace when the rest have theirs. Kevin and I found the angel tablet and he's going to find a way to reverse Metatron's spell. This'll be over soon."
"Cas if you need help, please just...ask for it, okay."
"Alright."
"No." I closed my eyes and begged, "Please, Cas. Tell me."
"I—Alright," he nodded.
"Thanks."
"Are you okay? What did Death say?" Sam asked.
I looked at Cas before I let out a shuddered breath. "I don't know, lots of things."
"I say we celebrate," Kevin clasped his hands together, a big goofy smile on his face. His smile grew even bigger when he caught me looking at him.
"You look like you slept with coat hanger in your mouth," I muttered.
"You look like the toothpick I used to pick my teeth this morning."
"Ooh, what did you have?"
"Steak."
"Steak?" I repeated with an eyebrow in the air. Kevin pointed at Dean.
"He got it."
"How dare you."
"Uh—If it's any consolation, it wasn't nearly as good as yours. I swear." Dean responded immediately.
"Really? I was kind of starving. Feels like I haven't eaten in a week."
