Cas was a soldier, it was true. But he rarely fought against his brothers.
"Just listen to me, please!" he begged, earning an angel blade sized hole in his shoulder. He clutched it immediately and ducked before the blade made another pass at him.
The angel in the leather jacket clutched the knife with both of his hands and raised it above his head but before he could make the sure blow at Cas's chest, another angel blade tore through his stomach. His light shown through the room for a few seconds before he fell, revealing the one who stabbed him.
Metatron didn't stop to see Cas's confused expression. Quickly, he stained his hands with the newly bleeding angel and drew a sigil on the floor.
The three angels that were about to attack Cas as well as Cas himself screamed, "No!" as Metatron smacked his flesh against the hardwood floor.
Cas squeezed his eyes shut, preparing himself for the impact, but nothing happened. He opened his eyes when he didn't feel himself move. Everyone else was gone.
"You can alter the sigil," Metatron shrugged.
Cas removed his hand just slightly to peek at his injured shoulder. "Why did you do that?" He glared at him hatefully.
"Didn't you see the hideous biker outfits?" He pointed to the dead body on the floor. "Those were just Malachi's followers. Bart is on his way over."
"And?"
"And you still need to kill them before they kill us."
"You wanted me to kill you a minute ago."
Metatron gave a quiet chuckle, "But you weren't going to kill me." His grin fell immediately when he said, "They are."
"Tell me where the tablet is and I could stop it."
"Stop what? What do you think is in the tablet that's going to help this?"
"I'll return the angels to their home! They'll no longer be lost on earth!"
"And you think that would stop the civil war?" He gave him a sympathetic look. "You're a lot more dumb than I ever thought you could be. Castiel, free will is flawed. That's why it's only here on earth and no where else. And look what they've done with it! Like mindless animals, preying on each other! Heaven needs a strong ruler, the universe needs a strong ruler!"
"You." Cas raised an eyebrow.
"Well," Metatron gave a shrug, "yes."
A strike of lightening fried Metatron's flesh and smoked him into the next life right as the word rolled off his tongue. Cas took a quick step back, his panicked eyes wildly searching for the source.
"Anyway," a loud voice boomed throughout the room.
Bartholomew was standing at the very foot of the door surrounded by eight other angels.
"I'm looking for a certain rock, with certain words that you certainly stashed away for your own personal benefit."
"That's not true." Cas's voice was low and his glare was furious. "I don't know where the tablet is."
"Huh." Bartholomew nodded. "Not going to lie, brother, but that's really hard to believe. Considering you're the Scribe of God's yes man." He turned to the angels who were eyeing Cas like they couldn't wait to tear him to shreds. "The angel in front of you is the one who encouraged Metatron to cast us out of heaven—"
"No!"
"He's the one who caused tens of us to die in the Fall—"
"That's not true!"
"He refuses to tell us where the tablet is because he thinks it ought to be his." He spoke over Cas, "And he believes he is chosen by god to be god!" Bartholomew's lips twitched just slightly, subtle mischief in his eyes. "I think we should put him in his place."
Cas couldn't recall much of what happened after that.
It was difficult to file things into memory while trying to keep alive at the same time. The blows were vicious, fueled by rage, regret, despair. They took out their frustration on him, not withholding anything in the least bit. He was bleeding from everywhere in his body, aching from too many places at once.
There was one thing he remembered, the only thing that stood out the most. A third party arrived, but Cas couldn't see who it was.
Cas could only see a bright light and it smote the angels off of Cas effortlessly. Bartholomew found the need to flee immediately after.
Cas heard his brothers and sisters screaming, and he couldn't help but wish whoever his rescuer was to stop. But he was too out of it to check.
He wondered who could it be, but for some reason, all his mind could muster was the conversation he had just short hours ago. Specifically, one sentence:
"So I guess I'll have to lookout for you."
_______________
Not gonna lie, still testing out this third POV thing. Hopefully it's working out.
Can I just say that I love Cas with every little mitochondria in my body?
Do you guys think Liz was actually the one to save him??
Do you guys forgive our non-hero, Eremiel?
Talk! Discuss! Let me know :)
Don't forget to vote either. Voting rocks. AKF xx
