Lynx: A Callie Torres Story

Jada was so excited as she knocked on the front door. A second later, a woman who didn't look like Callie answered the door.

"Hi, I'm here to see Callie Torres."

The woman shook her hand. "You must be Jada?"

She nodded. "I am."

"I'm Jessica, the cleaning lady, but you can call me Jess," she said and Jada felt a rush of relief come over her. She didn't know why her heart was beating so hard but for a second she had thought this woman was somehow romantically involved with Callie.

"She's on a work call at the moment but she'll be right with you," Jess said as invited Jada inside.

Callie paced around a beautiful and luxurious kitchen reading some papers and talking on the phone to somebody as she paced. There was a bag on one of the bar stools that was overstuffed with binders and even more papers all over the kitchen counter.

Jada watched her walk around the counter and grab the bag along with a white lab coat and toss it in the hallway beside a door. She smacked her hand off the counter and said rather aggressively, "I have company now and don't have time to talk about this anymore. I want you to figure it out tomorrow." And with that she threw her phone down on the table a little aggressively.

"Hey Jada!" she said she said in a tone that nearly made Jada twist out of her skin with a feeling coming from a certain somewhere.

"Sorry you had to listen to all that," Callie said as she came over to her.

Jada noticed that she was walking with just a little bit of a limp. "What was all that?" Jada asked.

"Just a lot of shit going on at work," Callie answered. "Chief wants me to move up a surgery from next weekend to tomorrow but I don't think it's a good idea."

"Wait, are you a doctor?"

She nodded. "I'm an orthopedic surgeon when I'm not being Lynx and busy doing all the Lynx stuff," she explained with a smile.

Jada smiled. "So were you like faking everything the other day or?"

Callie chuckled and the sound of her laugh made Jada just want to go over to the couch she was on and shut her up with a kiss. "No I did sprain my ankle really bad, but I did want to see if you would take care of me or if you would be one of those super fans?"

"Well, did I pass?"

She nodded with a smile. "With flying colors."

As Jada was about to say something, the cleaning lady asked from across the room, "Miss Ramirez, is it okay if I leave a little early today?"

"Jessica you don't have to ask, enjoy your night."

Jada was confused. "I know you're confused," Callie jumped to say. "But Callie isn't my real birth name."

"My real name is Sara Ramirez," Callie said with a sexy accent. "When I was a kid I really loved the name Callie since it was from one of my favorite shows and I sorta had a crush on the character. It's my moms maiden name before she married my dad. But when I could, I changed my name."

"So what do you want me to call you?" Jada teased.

"You can call me whatever you want. But Callie  when we're in public please."

"When we're in public?"

Callie got up and came to sit next to Jada on the opposing couch. "I've always been good at reading peoples minds and emotions but ever since I got bit, that feeling has gotten a lot stronger and a lot more accurate."

Jada started laughing. "So basically you're telling me that you know I have a big crush on you?"

She nodded. "Oh I know. I knew as soon as you found my crash landing on your back porch."

Jada's face was bright red. "So are you going to know everything I think about?"

"If I wanted to I could. But I try to stay out of other peoples privacy unless I'm curious or I need to. But I didn't really have to read you to figure it out, it was kinda obvious, I could tell by your body language and your tone of voice."

Callie grabbed Jada's hand and pressed her lips against it. "But, I also happen to really like you."

Jada smiled. "You do?"

She nodded. "I do."

"Do you want to go on a date with me?"
