Jada could feel her wife's nervousness through their tightly locked hands as they walked up to the front door of Callie's parents home. She was having trouble judging how to help her wife. Callie almost always wore a badass front, whereas the woman next to Jada looked like she could be knocked down at any minute.

She was glad she had decided to come. Jada wasn't sure if she should intrude on anything since Callie hadn't seen her parents in a while, but after feeling the nervousness just radiating from her, Jada made up her mind that she was coming.

So the couple had made the trip to Mexico to visit Callie's family for Christmas. If all went well, they would be spending the night here before heading to Los Angeles for the following two days and heading home on Christmas Eve. Callie had made plans in case everything went to shit, and they could stay with a friend of hers tonight if necessary.

Jada also knew Callie wasn't ready for the 'badassery' she was going to pull if absolutely necessary. She went back and forth in her head between the stance she would take if everything went to shit. Jada eventually decided to meet in the middle; let her complete badass wife handle it, and then back her up. From what she'd heard, Callie's mom was more of the problem than her dad. And if it came to it, Jada was ready and confident to put Callie's mom in her place and show her that she wasn't fucking around with her daughter.

Callie took a deep breath and rung the doorbell. "It's going to be okay baby," Jada tried to reassure her. "They're not going to scare me away."

Jada quickly embraced her wife when she leaned into her for a hug. "You sure you're up for this?"

Jada nodded confidently. "Anyone who messes with my girl is going to get a piece of me."

Callie smiled for the first time in an hour as the front door opened and a woman Jada figured out was her wife's mom stood behind it. "Calliope!"

Jada let go of Callie's hand for her to hug her mom. "Hey mom."

"I missed you so much sweetheart."

Jada shot her wife a smile when she rolled her eyes over her moms shoulder. "I would miss you too if you didn't disown me."

"Calliope, now is not the time."

As the two women released their embrace, Jada put a comforting hand on Callie's back to tell her to tone it down. Callie's mom now turned to Jada.

"I'm Lucia, Calliope's mom. And you must be Jada, her friend?"

That didn't take long. "I'm Jada," she answered. "I'm-"

"Jada is my wife mom," Callie snapped from beside her. "And I would like you to address her as such."

"Come in ladies," Lucia invited. "Calliope, I think you're old enough to stop playing that game. One of my friends from yoga has a handsome young man who would like to meet you."

They followed Lucia into the house. Callie was about to charge after her, but Jada grabbed her hand to stop her. "Easy baby."

"But-"

"I know babe, I know," Jada whispered before pulling her wife into a hug. "Don't bring the big guns out so soon."
