"Stay right here, no matter what," Callie had said to her. Jada was fighting an inner battle with the decision if she should just stay in her hiding spot as Callie ordered, or go play Lynx and at least free Callie so she could fight the intruders off.
From her hiding place downstairs, Jada could hear the men demanding answers about something from Callie.
Without even thinking, Jada was on her feet sneaking up the stairs. When she got to the top of the stairs and she was positive that nobody had heard, she held her head next to the door.
"Well boys, we got ourselves a good night," a man said.
There were several others laughing. "Jackpot in the first house."
"Take your pick boys," someone else said. "But we're flipping coins for who gets to fuck the rich bitch first."
Jada heard the sound of coins clattering against each other as someone dug around their pockets for change. "We could also gang bang her," someone suggested.
"She's gonna be the hottest lady to ever suck my dick."
Jada's blood was boiling at what she'd overheard. Again without thinking, she burst out from behind the basement door sporting the Lynx suit.
"Oh fuck," somebody said.
She was staring at 8 men in the living room, masks over their faces as they gave her all of their attention and momentarily forgot about Callie. Jada made quick eye contact with Callie who looked like she wanted to explode in fury since Jada had left her hiding spot.
"Two for two special."
Five of them ran at Jada who found herself moving to fight the men. She knew she wasn't telling her body to do this, it was the suit. Callie said the suit would protect her, so Jada just decided to let the suit do it's job.
She'd dropped two men on the floor already as Callie broke free of her restraints and reached up on the counter to grab her knife and baton. Jada let the suit go as Callie started attacking the men from behind. The men realized they weren't going to beat a full on superhero and attempted to flee. Jada let them run out the way they came while Callie finished her final attacks on the last stragglers to escape.
"Authorities dispatched," she suit said in Jada's ear. "S.H.I.E.L.D. intelligence notified."
"Mark I, redirect local authorities to S.H.I.E.L.D. Ground assistance is not necessary. Contact Agent Romanoff and let her know this is not an emergency," Callie said.
Jada ran to close and lock the front door before ripping the mask off and going to check on Callie.
"Babe are you okay?" She asked and then noticed the blood in Callie's eyebrow. "Your eye, let me help."
"I thought I told you to stay downstairs," Callie questioned.
"I'm sorry but I know they hurt you. And I knew I could help. Or at least the suit could," Jada rambled.
"They're going to know where we live now," Callie said flatly. "Since you had on the suit."
"They could've killed you!"
"And they could've killed you too," Callie shot back. "They were armed," she said. "With guns. Yeah the suit is bulletproof. But for that long against that much firepower, I don't know."
"Next time when I tell you to stay somewhere, you stay there!"
"You don't have to get all pissy with me," Jada snapped. "Sorry I don't want the woman I love to get raped!"
"Yeah?" Callie asked sarcastically. "And you think I want to see someone else I love gunned down right in front of me!?"
"Callie, what happened?" Jada asked, lowering her voice.
"Mark was murdered right in front of me Jada," she yelled. "Right in front of me! We happened to be in the wrong spot at the wrong fucking time! And I'm sorry I don't want to take that kind of a risk again!"
Jada was quiet. "So when I tell you to do something, you do it! That's it! I didn't choose to be Lynx okay!? I got bit by a fucking cat and here I am! My job is to protect people! And when it comes to you, you need to listen to me because I can't lose someone I love again!"
"What about yourself!?" Jada asked. "Do you even give a damn about what happens to yourself? Because I do! You keep telling me and telling me that you'll protect me and this and that! And I love you for that! But there's two of us in this relationship! And I want to protect you too!"
Callie sat down on one of the bar stools and took a deep breath. "You may be the superhero," Jada told her quietly. "But I can protect you too."
Jada set the mask down on the counter and walked towards the bathroom. She came back with a cloth and some things to clean out the cut in Callie's eyebrow. Jada sprayed the disinfectant into the cut and Callie grimaced.
"It's deep," Jada said.
She went to the sink and ran the cloth under cold water and began to wipe the spray off other areas of Callie's face around her eyebrow. Jada opened the cream and squirted some onto her finger. With focus, she was able to work the cream into the cut with her fingers and without getting the cream everywhere.
Jada pulled out two tiny looking bandaid things and placed each one above and below the cut so it would keep the cut closed to heal. Jada watched as Callie watched her work as she tilted her head around to examine for anymore injuries. Callie moved to push a strand of hair behind her ear and Jada gasped when she saw Callie's hands.
Callie's hands were raw from all the punching. The skin was broken in several places on each hand. Jada repeated the process again, although this time, she wrapped both of Callie's hands up with gauss to allow the wounds to heal faster.
"Are you hurt anywhere else?" Jada asked and Callie shook her head.
"I'm sorry for not listening to you," Jada admitted as she cleaned up the counter. "I know you were just trying to look out for me."
Callie stood up and came over to her. "No, I'm sorry I yelled at you like I did. You were just trying to help and I appreciate that. And you're right, we're a team in this relationship now when it comes to Lynx. I've just been so used to being Lynx myself and having to look out for myself and others. I want to train you to be a second Lynx with me."
Jada took Callie's bandaged hands in hers. "You're right though, you are Lynx and I can never be."
Callie shook her head. "No, I'm going to train you and-"
Jada interrupted. "Lynx is a part of you that you can't take away. I want you to teach me how to use the suit. I want to be able to help you if I can. But I only want to bring out the suit if I absolutely have to."
Callie smiled and Jada added, "plus, you look really fucking hot in the suit so I'd be more than happy to watch you kick ass wearing it."
