Jada was thankful her mom didn't say anything about interrupting her and Callie having sex. It would've been a joke and most likely hilarious, but Jada didn't really want to think about how many times her mom had walked in on her.

She did however, love how much her mom cared for Callie. Jada told her mom about how her wife was treated by her family, and Michelle wasted no time making Callie feel welcome. She even treated Callie like a third daughter.

"You need any help mom?" Jada asked as she made her way into the kitchen.

"Callie just asked the same thing," Michelle answered. "I'm okay, thank you both for offering though."

Jada walked around her mom and to the fridge where she peered over her moms shoulder at the lasagna that was being made. "That looks good mom."

"Thanks honey."

She opened the fridge and was satisfied with the stock of booze. "Cals what do you want? My mom's got beer, wine, seltzer's, and some margarita mixer. I can make us margaritas."

"What do you have for beer?" Callie asked as she grabbed her laptop and iPad from her bag.

"Angry Orchard's, Bud Light-"

Jada didn't even need to finish. "Angry Orchard. Please and thank you babe."

"Mom, you want a margarita if I make them?" Jada asked as she brought the bottle over to her wife.

"Sure," Michelle answered. "Callie are you sure you don't want one?"

"I'm good, thank you Mrs-"

"Call me Michelle please, Callie," she teased.

"Will do," Callie replied with a smile. "I'll try a little bit, but some people from work sent me some scans they need help looking over. And I shouldn't be having a lot while I'm doing that."

"How's the new job going?"

"It's really good," Callie answered. "My good friends and people I've worked with since I was an intern bought the hospital and it's run by doctors. So I run the orthopedic department myself and am a part owner of the hospital."

"Wow Callie, that's really impressive, congratulations!"

"Mom, Callie also won a Carter Madison Grant. And she created artificial cartilage," Jada added, letting herself brag about her very awesome wife. "She cleaned up my shoulder from the surgery a few years ago and it's been feeling a lot better since."

"Callie, do you like operating on people you know?"

Callie took a deep breath and Jada mentally yelled at her mom for bringing this up. She got Callie's attention and silently communicated to her that she didn't have to talk about it if she didn't want to. But Jada received a reassuring smile from her wife.

"It depends on the procedure," Callie answered. "I get nervous if it's a more difficult surgery but most of the time I'm able to reassure myself because I'm the best person for the job. But my ex-girlfriend got into a really serious car accident a few years ago. I made a stupid promise and told her that I wouldn't let them take her leg. During surgery we found an infection that if it got to her heart, it would've killed her. So I had to make that decision to amputate. I'm still working on getting my confidence back after that."
