Jada was so happy to finally be back home in Seattle. She had so much fun in both Texas and Los Angeles, but she had done so much she was completely exhausted and it was nice to relax at home.

They had landed in Seattle a few hours ago and had spent those few hours unpacking all their things. It was nearing 8 at night and Jada had volunteered to pick up pizza, something quick for dinner.

It was mid November with only a week and a half until Thanksgiving. Jada was excited because she had seen snow for the first time when they landed. It wasn't enough snow to accumulate on the ground, Jada was loving actually seeing snow for the first time in person.

Although the snow wasn't sticking, it was very cold in Seattle as well as icy. This was the first time Jada was driving her Subaru in its natural environment. Before she left, Callie took her around the neighborhood and gave her a few pointers for driving in the snow and had her feel what it was like to slid on ice.

She noticed a lot of people spinning and sliding on the ice. But the Subaru was taking it like a champ. As she was driving, Jada made up her mind that she and Callie would purchase another Subaru for Callie's winter car.

It felt like slow motion. Jada had turned onto a back road and noticed another car approaching quickly from the opposite direction. She moved toward the edge of the two lane road because conditions weren't ideal and in case this car lost control. As the two cars went to pass each other, the opposing car slid across the yellow lines.

Jada had no time to react. She remembered hearing the tires squealing and the loud crash before feeling her car spin multiple times before rolling over. The Subaru only rolled once before coming to a stop right side up off the road against a tree.

Jada felt like she had been run over by a car. Everything hurt and she tried to focus on something through her blurry vision. Her head was spinning and she struggled for consciousness. Moving her right arm, she slowly reached for her phone that was in her pocket. Jada couldn't navigate around the seatbelt and to her pants pocket and suddenly stopped when everything went black.

Jada felt herself coming back to it when she heard glass shattering right beside her head. "Jada!"

She couldn't turn her head, but even in this state, she could recognize her wife's voice. "Callie?"

"I'm here," she heard Callie say before hearing her pop the lock and open the drivers side door. "Where are you hurt?"

Jada found herself unable to reply as Callie ripped the seatbelt. She couldn't hold herself up and collapsed into Callie's arms.

"What happened?" she found herself asking.

"You were in an accident," Callie replied softly. "I'm going to get you out of here."

She felt Callie moving to grab her and instinctively rested her head against her shoulder. "Can you tell me where you're hurt?" Callie asked again.

When Jada didn't reply, she felt Callie moving her hands over her entire body, feeling to see if anything was broken. "Is anything broken?" Callie asked. "I can't feel anything broken."

"My head hurts," Jada replied quietly.

"Okay," Callie answered. "I'm going to pick you up, tell me if anything hurts."
