Jada (Jay-duh) Brown was finishing up her evening shopping in central Los Angeles on a cool and clear night. Although the beginning of the day did not start in her favor, Jada was able to enjoy the night out by herself.

She was supposed to go on a shopping date. But, with her luck the girl cancelled after Jada had already arrived at the mall. She was used to being cancelled on. It happened every other week. It had happened so much that she eventually gave up being disappointed and made it a day to appreciate herself.

On the way out of the mall, Jada passed a small shop that had nearly a shrine set up for the city's superhero Lynx. There was so many items Jada could not figure out where to start looking. Jada had always been fascinated by the Marvel superhero's and now that Lynx emerged more nowadays then she used to. She had never seen Lynx in person, just on television and in the news.

Lynx had some of the coolest powers a superhero could have and was often referred to as Cat-Woman. She wore a black, tight, form fitting suit that reminded Jada of Spider-Man. Her mask was black with built in movable cat ears and a tail that could do just about anything. She had seen it shoot daggers, tie up enemies, and it was even used in fights. Lynx had retractable claws on her hands and feet which were used to scale buildings. Her hearing was incredible and she could jump across the entire city with her catlike mobility and traits. There were even stories saying she could transform into a real cat.

Jada bought a small stuffed Lynx that was meant to be hung around the rearview mirror of her car. Then Jada begun her mile walk through the parking lot to her car.

As she was about halfway through her walk, Jada heard screams followed by a gunshot. Not even a second later she saw many people running from the shots towards her. Not sure what to do, Jada simply stood there while the crowd ran around the cars and back towards the mall.

"Stop right there!" a man shouted from behind her. Jada froze and slowly turned her head over her shoulder to see a man pointing a gun at her. "Put everything down."

"Setting everything down," Jada responded as she set her bags and purse on the ground. Behind the man emerged the rest of his gang carrying much heavier weapons than just a pistol. She slowly turned around and asked, "what do you want from me?"

"Shut up!" the man yelled. "Or I will shoot!"

"Okay."

One of the other men suddenly gasped. "Boss what's that?"

Everyone looked up, including Jada. The man with the pistol gasped and everyone looked back down to see Lynx standing in front of him, a full claw extended into his chest. Jada had no idea how she had gotten there and where she even came from. But she was relieved.

Lynx backed up directly in front of Jada with her back to her. Disregarding the entire situation, Jada thought this was the coolest thing she had ever seen.

Suddenly the men opened fire on them and she could hear Lynx's steel claws blocking the bullets as she ducked down. More gunfire erupted from the police. When it was safe to do so, Lynx grabbed Jada and jumped from the middle of the parking lot to the top of the mall roof.

"Stay here." Lynx said before she jumped back to help the police. It wasn't long before Lynx and the police had killed the shooters or took them into custody. In one crazy cat jump, Lynx was back to Jada on the mall roof.

"Thank you," Jada stammered.

By now Lynx had pulled out a cloth and extracted her claw to clean the blood off it. "No need to thank me."

The police helicopter had located them on top of the mall. "Stay safe," Lynx said before she disappeared into darkness.

"Wait!" Jada shouted but it was too late.
