Jada shivered against her wife's bare chest from the cold and the nightmare that had awoken her once again in the middle of the night.

"I'm here beautiful," Callie whispered as she pulled the heavy comforter up and around them. "I'm here babe."

Her face was buried into Callie's neck and she had her arms wrapped around Callie so tightly that she was starting to feel the sweat from the tight contact of their bodies.

Jada always had nightmares that stemmed from the trauma of the accident, and going all the way back to when she first fell into her depression. Those thoughts she used to have came back to haunt her some nights. For years on occasion, Jada would be terrorized by those dreams. They would range from bad things happening to Callie, suicidal thoughts, horrible things such as rape and kidnapping, but Jada had too many nightmares about a lot of bad things.

"Come here Jaelynn," Callie whispered as she slowly turned onto her side, taking Jada with her.

Jada didn't even need to communicate with her wife what the dream was about. Based off her reaction, Callie already knew, and Jada honestly didn't want to think more about it. In her dream she was raped and kidnapped by a serial killer who also had Callie who he used to help hunt his victims.

She reached for the blankets when her back touched the cool sheets. Callie gently laid down on her. Jada was so appreciative of her wife. The couple didn't have Jackie with them, so this position allowed for Callie to apply the deep pressure therapy that Jackie would've done. Callie used her hip and abdomen to gently press down on Jada's stomach. The feeling of the pressure always helped to calm her down.

Callie also took a protective position by laying on top of her. Having Callie above her like that also helped Jada to calm down much quicker.

"I'm sorry for waking you up baby," Jada whispered.

Callie pressed a gentle kiss to her cheek. "Don't apologize."

"I wake you up so often though," Jada tried to say.

Above her, her wife shook her head. "It doesn't matter. When you need me I'm going to be here for you."

Jada kissed Callie. "Thank you baby."

Callie nodded down to her. "Am I helping?"

"You're always helping."

"Do you want to tell me what happened?" Callie asked gently. "Or do you want me to take a look myself?"

"You can," Jada whispered.

Jada watched Callie close her eyes above her. The only time Callie brought up using her telepathic communication powers on Jada was when she had a nightmare like this. Callie understood so well how Jada was feeling and even went to understand what had gone on in her head to hurt her like this.

A moment later, Jada watched Callie open her eyes. While her wife was reading her mind, Jada tried her best to remember everything that happened during that horrible nightmare for her wife to pick up on.

"Jaelynn, I'm right here," Callie whispered. "I wish I could protect your mind beautiful."

Jada gently kissed Callie's cheek and neck. "You do so much for me babe."

Callie pursed her lips together. "I'm going to find a way to protect you from the nightmares."

"Isn't that impossible Calliope?"

"Maybe," Callie answered quietly. "But for you, I'll find a way to make the impossible possible."

"Babe, you don't have to do that for me."

"I am going to," Callie answered confidently.

"Callie..." Jada trailed off. She would never take for granted the connection she had with Callie that allowed them to understand each other so well without words.

As much as Jada tried to hide it, she couldn't help but feel how much that dream had scared her. Waking up a few minutes earlier, Jada had not stopped shaking in fear. Her nervousness had since faded but now Jada was just scared of that nightmare coming true.

Callie knew it and rolled to the side of her wife before helping Jada turn to face her. She threw her arm around Jada's bare back, the other underneath the pillow to hold her from the other side, and her leg over Jada's as well.

"Try not to think about it," Callie whispered softly. "I'm right here and I'm not going anywhere."

Jada tried her best to hold back the tears but it was no use. "I don't want that to happen to me or you," she told Callie.

"It won't," Callie reassured her. "I will protect you." She gave her wife another reassuring nod. "You have my promise that I will keep you safe." With a smile, Callie added, "and you know I can handle myself."

Jada managed a small smile. "You're pretty badass."

"I know I'm a badass," Callie said in an attempt to lighten the mood a little. "But none of these nightmares are going to come true. Because I'm here, and like you said, I'm pretty badass."

"I love you Calliope. There's not a place where I feel safer than in your arms."

"I love you too," Callie said quietly. "I love everything about you. And I'm going to protect what I love. I will find away to protect you from your nightmares."

"How are you going to do that?"

"I don't know," Callie answered honestly. "But I will figure it out. Maybe Dr. Strange can put a spell on me or something that will let me monitor your thoughts while you're sleeping and stop the thoughts before they even have a chance to turn into nightmares."

"Babe... I don't even know what to say to that."

"You don't need to say anything," Callie replied softly. "I love you so much and I'm not going to let anything hurt you."

"I love you baby."

Callie smiled softly. "Am I helping? I can feel you calming down."

Jada nodded. "I'm getting there."

Callie reached over Jada and grabbed her phone off the charger. "I can't believe I'm suggesting this, but why don't you play some Taylor Swift to help you relax?"

Jada took her wife's phone and pulled up Taylor's newest album. "Calliope, you are actually volunteering to listen to Taylor Swift with me?"

"Unfortunately," Callie teased with a smile. "But you come way before my opinion on Taylor Swift. So if listening to Taylor Swift is going to help you, than I'm going to listen with you."

"Here, I'll pick a song I think you would like."

"That would be perfect."
