JOSEPH POV

I'd been seeing someone for the past six weeks. Her name was Camille. We'd met working at Tesco together. She was a super funny girl, she was very pretty and we got on famously. She wasn't Lucy. But me and Lucy were never going to happen. She'd been with Oliver for 8 months now and they were in love. They both apparently said it the weekend that they met each others parents a few months ago.

I really did need to move on and get over her. And I think Camille was going to help me with that. I did honestly like her a lot. It wasn't love. Not yet anyway. But I did like her a lot. We'd worked together for about a year and she surprised me by asking if I wanted to meet her for a drink one weekend. I was meeting her tonight for dinner and a movie. I was ready to ask her to be my girlfriend. I'd be an idiot not to.

We'd slept together a few times by now and we were both definitely "compatible" in that sense. And I was taking her to meet my friends tonight. It was Ollies 19th birthday so we were heading out to celebrate. Ollie and Lucy and their respective brothers were coming, Nikki, Camille and myself and a few other people we'd become friends with at LAMDA. Starting at Fitzgeralds as tradition dictated, and then heading further in to the city on a pub crawl. We'd all write ourselves off but we deserved a night on the town. We were 9 months in to our first year at LAMDA. Almost a third of the way through already.

I was about to head out the door when my mum grabbed me. "Have fun love. Be safe. Are you taking Camille?" "Yeah she's meeting us at Fitzgeralds." She looked like she wanted to say something else. "Spit it our mum." "I just want you to be careful." I raised my eyebrows at her. "Mum are you trying to give me 'the talk'? I know what happens when a boy likes a girl." She rolled her eyes at me and said "idiot. Not what I meant. I want you to be careful with this girls feelings." "Camille?! What do you mean?" "I mean with Lucy being such a huge part of your life. You were devastated when she started dating Ollie. I want you to be sure you're with Camille for the right reasons."

I started feeling a bit pissed off then. "Mum. I'm not out to hurt Camille. She's not a rebound or anything like that. Yes I had feelings for Lucy but I'm not going to hurt someone else to get over her. That kind of hurts that you'd think that." "Ok I'm sorry! I didn't word that well did I?" I smiled at her. "I know what you meant mum. I really do like Camille a lot." "I know love. I really liked her when I met her." Mum had met Camille several times very briefly when she'd been shopping at Tesco and Camille was working. "I'm sorry love. I know you'll be respectful of her feelings. Go have fun and say happy birthday to Ollie for me and your dad!"

I gave mum a quick kiss on the cheek and then bolted out the door, beginning the 15 minute walk to the pub. As I drew closer I started to approach the building where Lucy and Nikki's flat was. I saw them walking out of the building and start walking away from me towards Fitzgeralds. And fuck me! Lucy was not making it easy on me dressed how she was! Those pants were like a second skin and made her legs look a mile along and her bum looked phenomenal! Joseph stop it mate. She's your best mates girlfriend. And you're seeing Camille now.
