LUCY POV
I was starting to get a little sweaty. The band at Fitzgeralds was doing some amazing covers so Nikki, Hannah, Camille and I had been on the dance floor since we got here. Only stopping when one of us went to the bar.
Camille came back with our next round and handed me my G&T. She glanced back towards where the boys were sitting a few times before saying "Lucy?" "Yeah?" "Who's that with Ollie?" I turned back towards him and saw her. Liv. Olivia. She had an arm around him as she stood next to his bar stool and smiled at him. He had one hand on his beer, the other one gripping his knee. He saw me watching and mouthed "help me" to me. I smirked and said to the girls. "That lunatic has apparently had a crush on him since high school." Nikki gasped and said "no! That's not Olivia is it?! The psycho from Christmas!" "The very same." I explained everything to Camille and Hannah. Camille laughed and said "like she's got a chance! Has she seen the way Ollie looks at you?!" "Come on girls. I think our boys need rescuing." We saw that more girls had joined them. We could only assume they were friends of Olivia.
I danced my way over to where the boys were sitting and bounced in to Ollie's lap, grabbing his jaw in one hand and kissing him deeply. "Oh hi! Liz right?!" Ollie and David both covered a laugh with a cough. She glared at me and said through clenched teeth "Liv. Olivia to you." "Great to see you again Liv! What a surprise bumping in to you here!"
She glanced down to see one of Ollies hands around my waist, the other sitting on my bare leg. Her eyes then raked back up to my face with a murderous look that then turned sickly sweet. "We'll Ollie did say at his parents over Christmas that he'd like to see me over New Year. Apparently some girl who's convinced she's his girlfriend keeps bothering him." "Really! He told me the exact. Same. Thing."
I could see David out of the corner of my eye. His hand was covering his mouth as his shoulders shook trying to hold in his laughter, a few tears had started to collect in the corners of his eyes. Joe was fascinated. His eyes going back and forth between Olivia and I like he was watching a tennis match. Ben was grinning and then he said "wow what a lunatic! Anyone who thinks Ollie would leave my sister must have mental problems!"
Ollie bit his lip in an effort not to laugh. David actually stood up from the table and walked away, coughing with the effort of holding in his laughter for so long. Nikki spoke up and said "well it was lovely to meet you but we're heading on out now! Happy new year Liz!" "Liv!" "Whatever." We threw the rest of our drinks back and then walked out to meet Tom in the limo. As we all climbed in and closed the door we saw Olivias thunderous face appear at the door of the pub.
David absolutely lost it and began howling with laughter. "Oh my god I almost choked trying to hold that in! Seriously though Lucy you handled that so well!" I frowned and bit my lip. "I hope she's ok. I didn't want to embarrass her too much. She just made me so angry!" Everyone leapt to assure me that nothing I had said was out of turn or uncalled for.
"Sweetheart she's a psycho. She only still sees me because our parents are friends. Mum only pretends to like her so she doesn't seem rude." "Yeah! Dad doesn't even pretend he just usually ignores her!" I gave a little half smile at what Ollie and David said. "Luce?" I heard Joseph's gentle voice. "Luce I only just met her and I didn't like her. She was incredibly rude to you over Christmas too from what I've heard. Don't let her ruin your night!" "Yeah fuck her!" That was Hannah. That earned me a laugh. "I only met all of you tonight but I can see you and Oliver have something real! Don't let that little tramp get her claws in to him or in to your brain!"
I pushed Olivia to the back of my mind and decided I wasn't going to let her get to me. There was nothing I could do about it. I wasn't concerned about Ollie being unfaithful or anything like that. I knew he loved me. But I didn't want it to get back to Richard and Sarah I'd been rude to a family friend. Or worse. It get leaked to the media.
