LUCY POV
Two more weeks had gone by with Joseph and I becoming more and more blissed out in our fledgling relationship. But I could tell there was something troubling him. I had a feeling it was his audition tape. He hadn't had a response yet and as much as he kept saying he knew he wouldn't hear anything back I knew he was bitterly disappointed. I wanted to do something nice for him so had enlisted the girls help. As soon as I told them my issue Camille forced Ben in to watching Billy for me and then we all went shopping.
Lingerie shopping to be exact.
I hadn't done this for years. Not since shopping for my honeymoon. And by then Ollie and I had been together for years so I didn't have to try as hard. But my relationship with Joe was still so new I wanted so badly to look good for him, for him to want me. Like REALLY want me.
I was currently in a change room trying on what felt like my 50th lingerie set with the girls calling encouragement through the curtain. "Lulu you're honestly overthinking this. He's completely head over heels in love with you. He'd love you if you wore a potato sack." "Niks is right!" "Guys he saw me in my period undies last week! He didn't flinch or even make a comment but they're the size of a fucking parachute!"
There was a pause from outside and then they all started to laugh. I whined from inside the change room as I adjusted the straps on the bra I'd just pulled on. "Shut up you lot! Not helpful!" I flung open the curtain and they all turned to me and their jaws dropped.
Great. This wasn't the one either. I huffed in frustration and then went to close the curtain to get changed in to the next one. "Whoa whoa whoa! Luce let's have a proper look!" Camille flung the curtain open again. My four girls, Camille, Nikki, Hannah and Erin looked me up and down properly before they all grinned and began making smutty comments. "That's it Luce! That dark colour on your fair skin looks fucking amazing!" "Exactly! The pale colours don't work with your colouring Lulu! That colour shows you off in just the right way! He's gonna lose his fucking mind!"
I turned to look in the mirror nervously biting my bottom lip, but maybe they were right? Green was Joes favourite colour. I realised I had subconsciously been choosing lingerie that would have gone with Camille's darker complexion. Pale colours against her olive skin just popped so much better but got lost on me. The darker green I was now wearing had been a last minute addition thrown in by her. I needed to stop comparing myself to her. Her and Joe were long over. He loved me. She loved my brother.
A small smile crossed my face and I asked "so I'm getting this one?" "Yes!" The four of them chorused together. I chuckled at them and said "fine I'll get this one!" I changed quickly back in to my normal clothes before paying for my new lingerie and meeting the girls outside the shop.
We went to a restaurant nearby for lunch and once we were all sitting down with a glass of wine they began throwing questions at me about my plans for Joe that night. "Lulu have you got a plan other than sexy undies and fucking him senseless?" "Jesus Nikki!" I laughed along with the other girls at her directness. She had been like this as long as I could remember.
"I think I'm just going to cook him a nice meal, maybe have a movie night at home? David and Erin are already taking Billy overnight." "OH I KNOW WHAT YOU CAN DO!! Do the naked chef! Wear an apron and your new lingerie and nothing else!" I laughed at Camille but then realised she was serious. "Camille are you serious?!" "As a heart attack! Actually you might give Joe a heart attack if you do that."
We all giggled at Camille's idea but slowly I could feel an idea forming in my brain. I needed to get home and start cooking. Joe was out visiting his parents all day but he'd be home for dinner. Camille's idea was starting to sound better and better in my head. The girls and I finalised my scheme together before we all split up for the day.
