LUCY POV
The girls and I had been dancing for a while before Camille grabbed my arm and said "I have to pee! Come with me!" I walked to the bathroom feeling with her. I felt nervous. This was the first time we'd be alone since Joe and I told everyone we were an item. She dragged me in to the bathroom and we both did our business before coming out to wash our hands.
I had my back to the door as Camille checked the stalls to make sure no one was in there before turning to me.
Fuck. This is when she either kills me or tears me a new one.
To my surprise she threw her arms around me and hugged me. "Luce, I'm really happy for you." I didn't know what to say so I hugged her tightly. I was so scared I was going to lose her by dating Joe. She was one of my best friends and she had helped me so much through my pregnancy after Ollie died. Without realising it a few tears rolled down my cheeks and I sniffled. We pulled away and she wiped them from my face. "Why you crying Luce?" "Because I was so scared! I thought I was going to lose you Camille! You're one of my best friends and I couldn't bear it!"
She smiled at me and said "never! You and me forever Luce. Lumille forever!" I laughed at that. A wet snotty laugh and then turned to the mirror to touch up my makeup and clean myself up. The door to the bathroom swung open and I saw a blonde girl walk in out of the corner of my eye. I made eye contact in the mirror with her and gasped before spinning around.
"Liv?" "Hi Lucy."
Camille's head shot up and she took a protective stance in front of me. "Olivia fuck off. She doesn't need grief from you. Not now." Olivia held her hands up in surrender. "Please. I come in peace. I just want to talk to you." I was hesitant but I gave Camille a brief nod. She glared at Olivia and said "I'm not leaving you alone with her. Speak."
Olivia turned to me and she didn't have that usual evil glint in her eyes. She just looked....sad. And sympathetic? "Lucy. I'm really really sorry." Camille scoffed and I whacked her lightly to shut her up. "I'm so incredibly sorry about Oliver. And I'm so sorry for the way I treated you and the things I said. I'm ashamed of myself looking back on it all."
My jaw dropped slightly and I wasn't sure how to respond. "I'm not expecting anything from you. I was vile to you. And it shouldn't have taken Oll-....what happened to make me realise it. I don't expect for you to forgive me or welcome me. But I truly am sorry. And I hope you and your little boy are happy and healthy."
I swallowed my pride.
And I pulled her in to a hug.
Camille smiled a tight smile at me over her shoulder. Olivia sniffled and we pulled apart from each other. "Thank you Olivia. I appreciate it." "I know I was behaving like an idiot. Ollie and I had a quick snog playing spin the bottle at the end of high school and my stupid brain convinced me that it meant we were meant to be. He was never mine. He was always yours."
I smiled at her and said "I did truly love him. You know that don't you. I was never after fame or his family's money or anything. He was my whole world. And he gave me the best gift in our son. I'll never get over him. Ever. But I'm slowly starting to move on in a way."
She nodded and said "I understand. I hope you can find happiness again. I'll let you get back to your friends. I saw you walk in and knew I had to talk to you. Have a good night Lucy, Camille. And again. I am truly sorry."
And with that,
She was gone.
She exited the bathroom, two seconds later Joe barged in.
To the ladies room.
Camille and I raised our eyebrows and I said "can we help you?" "What'd she say?! What happened?!" "She apologised." "What?!" "She apologised. For everything." "Everything?" "Eeeeverything. Joe I honestly don't want to talk about it right now. It's Hannah's birthday and her and Nikki just got engaged. Let's go out there and have fun. And stop coming in to the ladies room!"
