LUCY POV
The drive to Oliver's parents house took 2 hours, but the time flew by as we blasted music, fighting over the Bluetooth in the car, and singing at the top of our lungs. We arrived at the house at about 4:30pm, Sarah was standing at the door waiting for us. "Hi mum!" Ollie ran to her giving her a big hug, lifting her off her feet. She giggled and hugged him back then held her arm out for me indicating I should join them in a three way hug. "Happy Christmas my loves!"
She kissed my cheek and then linked arms with me leading me in to the house. "How's your poor ankle?" "It's fine as long as I don't walk on it for too long then it starts to ache a bit. But it's a million times better than it was!"
We entered the lounge room to the house where we found most of the extended Henderson-Blake family gathered around in a post Christmas lunch coma. Some were playing board games or reading, a Christmas movie was playing for the kids, the rest of the adults were either around the pool table or out on the patio around the firepit.
Ollie and I made the rounds wishing everyone a happy Christmas. When we got to Richard her gave me a bear hug and said "there you are!" Before guiding me to the kitchen to get me a drink. Ollie scoffed, rolled his eyes and said "yeah hi dad! I'm good thanks you?!" Richard chuckled and said "sorry Olls. Happy Christmas son" and pulled him in to a hug.
After Ollie and I had a drink in hand we joined David, some of the older cousins and a few family friends around the firepit outside. I saw one girl who I hadn't met before. Very pretty, small framed and quite short whose eyes lit up when she saw Ollie. "Olliebear!" She leapt at him and threw her arms around him in a hug catching him by surprise. He hugged her with one arm. "Hi Liv Happy Christmas. Have you met my girlfriend yet?" He pulled me closer by the hand and said "babe this is Olivia, Liv. We love known each other since primary school. Liv this is Lucy."
She looked me up and down and I swear her lip curled in distaste slightly. "Girlfriend? Didn't know you were seeing anyone Olliebear." Olliebear? Who the hell is this chick giving me the stink eye?! "I'm guessing it's not serious or it'd be in the media. And she would've met your oldest and best friend." She put emphasis on the oldest and the best part of that.
"She does know my best friend. His names Joseph and he's at LAMDA with us. And it's very serious Liv. I love her." He rolled his eyes at her and then pulled me closer to him wrapping his arm around my shoulders, kissing the top of my head. "Oh Olliebear you know I'm your closest friend." "Liv I haven't seen you or spoken to you for six months." I heard David snort next to me.
She huffed and then went back to her conversation with Ollie's cousin. I looked up at Oliver and raised my eyebrow questioningly. He mouthed "tell you later" to me and began a conversation with his uncle.
I turned to David who whispered quietly in my ear. "Don't worry about Liv. Ollie can't stand her." I whispered back "do they have history?" He snorted and said out loud "who needs a refill? Lucy can you help me?" He led me back in to the kitchen which was empty and began refilling glasses as I meant against the bench top. "She THINKS they have history. Their history was a 2 second song playing spin the bottle when they were 15 at a party" "That's it?" "That's it. He honestly can't stand her. He didn't even want to do that but didn't want to humiliate her in front of their whole grade." "Why is she here?" "Her parents are friends of mum and dad. They're actually really great people. Liv just latched on to Oliver when we were all kids." I snorted and we began carrying glasses back outside to hand out.
When I handed Ollie his glass he looked down at me. "How's your foot sweetheart. You're not limping anymore." "No I think sitting down for so long has helped. It honestly feels a lot better." He smiled down at me and pressed a kiss to my forehead before pulling me further in to him, wrapping his coat around me. I noticed Olivia across the circle of people glaring at me. I raised my glass to her in a cheers and she rolled her eyes and looked away. I whispered up to Ollie "I don't think your oldest and best friend likes me very much." "Did David tell you everything"? "Yep. Sounds like it's true love Ollie." "Gross!" He pulled my beanie down over my eyes as I laughed at him. "Come inside sweetheart. I want to show you something."
