"Absolutely barbaric!" Hermione still kept her key phrase, except this time, she had a good reason to say it. "Umbridge isn't teaching us ANYTHING! All she's doing is enforcing stupid rules," Hermione raged.
Harry, Hermione, Ron and I were heading to Hogsmeade. We just had another disastrous lesson with Umbitch, and Hermione, and many others, were clearly upset about the fact we weren't learning anything. Hermione suddenly stopped and scrunched her eyebrows in concentration. Her eyes lit up as she looked between me and Harry.
"You two!" She walked up to us laughing. " What better people to teach us Defense Against the Dark Arts than the Potter siblings!"
Harry scoffed. "No thank you, do you see the way everyone talks about me and Snow now? They call us insane."
"I'm not willing to teach people who call me insane," I said matter of factly.
"OH, COME ON! If Voldemort really is back, don't you think it's better for the school to know how to defend themselves?"
I shook my head. "Me and Harry aren't even that advanced in that area."
Harry rolled his eyes. "Oh shut up Snow, you are way advanced in it, even Lupin said so when he saw you. Plus, we aren't that bad, we know slightly more than the other 5th years."
I sighed before saying something just to make them happy. "I'll think about it."
Ron and Hermione smiled, content with my answer, before suggesting we walk back towards Hogsmeade. I reach my hands in my pocket for my gloves before realizing I forgot them. "Oh shoot, I forgot my gloves...."
"We can wait for you," Harry said. I shook my head, not wanting to stop them.
"It's alright, I'll catch up with you." I wave them off before rushing back into Hogwarts. I tried brisk walking to the clubhouse, cursing myself for forgetting my gloves on such a windy October day. I smirked, remembering that it's October 1st, just 1 more week until my birthday. I wanted to take the shortcut to my clubhouse so I turned that way. However, as soon as I saw Mattheo walking in the opposite direction, I turned back around. I knew he saw me since he was exiting the way I was entering, fuck, so embarrassing.
I almost screamed in shock when he was in front of me. "How... how the hell did you get from there to here?"
He shrugged his shoulders. "I have my ways."
"Well, I'm on my way to Hogsmeade, so if you don't mind, I need to-"
"What did you do, last night?"
My heartbeat immediately sped up, I prayed he didn't think me and Loren were doing something odd. "I had dinner, and went to the clubhouse early because I was tired," I said fake confidently, hoping he would believe it.
"I can hear your fake confidence from a mile away," he scoffed. Fuck.
His expression softened a bit while he looked down at his hands for a moment. "Did you guys.... you know-"
I had to suppress a smile at the hint of jealousy in his voice. "No, we didn't, we were interrupted."
He took a deep breath before looking me directly in the eye. "So you would've if you weren't interrupted?"
I thought about it for a moment. "Maybe," I say indifferently.
"You would seriously give your virginity to a man who abused you?"
I groaned in disgust. "Mattheo, you don't get to decide that anymore. I.... I care for him."
"But do you love him? Do you see yourself in the future with him? Having kids, protecting each other?"
I looked down, not wanting to look at him.
He lifted my chin up to look at him with a gentle smile on his face. "I don't need to you tell me the answer, I already know what it is." I looked up at him in defiance. "You don't see him in that way, do you?" I look to the side and scoff.
I hate it when he's right.
I looked back at him, but didn't say anything. He leaned over, his hand on the wall next to me. "We both know who you'd rather spend the night with sweetheart." My breath hitched at our sudden closeness.
I think I stayed there in shock for almost a minute before realizing I had to catch up with them. I gently pushed him off from his chest before walking outside. Halfway to Hogsmeade when by brain finally processed what happened, I realized I forgot my freaking gloves again. I just decided to leave them and went back to Hogwarts.
I went into the three broomsticks, where I was sure they'd be, and I sat at their table once I spotted them.
"What took you so long?" Harry asked.
"My bad," I said, without giving any further explanation. My brain was still a mess and I couldn't think of any solid lie at the time.
He motioned towards my hands. "Where are the gloves?"
"Uh.... I realized I didn't need them, I stopped by to talk to someone."
"That someone being...."
GOD! Why is he being so interrogative.
"Ginny."
Ron and Hermione shared a worried look and Harry just nodded. Good, the questions stopped.
Soon after we finished our butterbeers and planned a few things for the next few days, we got all our stuff and left for Hogwarts. I turned back around to make sure I didn't leave anything and froze when I saw Ginny at the back table.
Shit.
Hey guys!!! Lemme know what you think of this chapter! I'm trying to make it more romancey but am I doing a good job of it? Let me know!
