Chapter 59 - If it breaks, I'll pick up the pieces

"How is it, Ranfa?"

"I think it's good. It's a hearty breakfast" On the plate, Only one of the onigiri was traditionally shaped. One was the shape of a star, the other a triangle, and the one she's eating was a heart.

Kirishima was happy to see she's eating. He made onigiri for her and himself. He wanted to spend time with her after everything that happened. He wanted to make up for everything. He didn't know where to start so he started with breakfast and he brought it to her room where they could be alone together. This was the second time he's in her room.

"Michiyo was making onigiri with Yuuki. You should have seen Yuuki's onigiris- they look like Bakugou's face."

"Why does it take three people to make onigiris? And where's the Bakugou shaped ones?"

"Truth is, I wanted to grill you a steak for breakfast but Michiyo said that's too much. So she said we should make onigiri together since she's making some for Todoroki. As for Yuuki, she joined in midway- she's very good at it! She put me to shame! Kah...I bet Bakugou's been teaching her how to cook on top of studying!"

Ranfa laughed a little, "I see." She imagined how Bakugou will teach Yuuki. He will try to be patient only to explode in anger every time she did something he deemed wrong.

Kirishima smiled back, relieved to see her smile was still there. He didn't want to see it disappear again. He wanted Ranfa to be happy. He wanted her to be the happiest. He wanted to protect her. Wanting to be her spear and shield did not change. After everything that happened, it made him even more determined to protect her now.

"Kirishima, how did you know I was out at night?"

"I just know."

"Oh." Ranfa left it at that. Maybe she made noises she didn't know and it woke him up. She didn't think about it any deeper.

Kirishima watched her eat. Truth was, he didn't know. How could he know when she walked out without making a single noise? It was thanks to his friendship with Tetsutetsu, who was out on a night run and he came across Ranfa. At the time, Tetsutetsu didn't make his presence known to Ranfa. All he did was send a message to Kirishima and tell him where Ranfa was. "You never told me this but why were you out at night?"

"I don't feel safe."

"Huh?"

"I can't stop this unease in my heart. No matter where I go in the dorm, I just don't feel at ease. The common room, the baths, and even my own room. I can't feel calm at all. I thought if I go out for a walk, I'll be calmer and be able to sleep." All the turning and flipping her pillow the other way couldn't make her fall asleep. She couldn't sleep and so she went out for a walk. "You ended up finding me." She smiled fondly when she mentioned that part. When Kirishima found her and brought her back by holding her hand, she felt comfortable and a little safer. Strangely, she felt a little lighter talking to him. She smiled, "Kirishima-"

"Ranfa, you've just got out of the hospital. I don't want you walking away from the dorm too far. And what do you mean you feel unsafe? The dorms were made to keep us all safe in one area."

"That's not-"

"Besides, even if someone dangerous appear, you'll end up kicking their asses in anyway. Frankly, I'm more worried about whoever decides to pick a fight with you, haha!"

Ranfa looked away for a brief moment; what was she doing? She's being weak in front of him when the her he liked was strong in person and always able to fight back. Why was she displaying this side of her to him? "Sorry..."

"If you want to have some air, just open the balcony door, alright?"

"Ah..." Ranfa started to eat the of the onogiri he made. "We have class later. Let's hurry."
