Chapter 66 - To the you I care about the most

Practice for the festival continued. Both Todoroki and Michiyo did not wish to let their conversation that night to ruin it for everyone. They chose not to tell anyone about it. Todoroki and Michiyo became distant after that.

What was there to say? It's not like Todoroki was in the position to lecture Michiyo about who she could like and who she could dislike. He was just a friend to her. He's not close to her in blood like Ranfa. He's just a classmate who happened to have the status of 'friend' with her. He knew he will make her angry if he tells her Dabi was only manipulating her and playing with her. He didn't want to argue with her like after the training camp. He did not want to push Michiyo further to Dabi. However, seeing Michiyo liking someone like Dabi...he couldn't ignore that. But what could he do about it? Telling Aizawa about it might make things worse.

"Michiyo..." He couldn't sleep. He decided to go and get some warm milk. Maybe something warm will help him get to sleep. 

Once the elevator door opened, he saw Midoriya. "Midoriya?" 

"Todoroki-kun, it's rare to see you awake at this time." Midoriya said to him. He was smiling at first but then it became that of concern the moment he saw how troubled Todoroki looked. "Todoroki-kun, did something happen?"

"...is it that obvious?"

"A little. Do you want to talk about it?"

"Won't I bother what you are doing?" Todoroki asked him. 

"I'm just reviewing the dance move. I took a video of Ashido dancing from start to finish. If I can copy her even a little, the actual day's dance will be good." 

"As meticulous as always." 

"Why don't we start with making some warm drinks since this might be long?" Midoriya suggested.

In the end, both of them got warm milk. "I have a friend. She likes someone who doesn't deserve her to look their way. I feel conflicted about it. I don't want her to look at that person." His hold on the mug tightened a little. Of all people, why did it have to be Dabi? Todoroki still remember how that guy snatched Bakugou in front of him. Todoroki never told anyone about it but he felt so much frustration when his friend was kidnapped right in his face. The fact they're both fire users too made it all the more frustrating; Dabi's fire was many times hotter and dangerous than his own.

"That friend...is it someone I know?"

"Hm." 

"Is she in our class?"

"Hm." 

"...is that person Michiyo-san?" He said that because Todoroki started to look concerned after he and Michiyo came back. Michiyo was forcing herself to smile while he looked troubled. Midoriya thought the two of them were really kind; they're willing to hide their own pain just to keep everyone happy. 

"How did you know?" 

"Am I not supposed to know?"  

"I..." Todoroki was hesitating to give names. Could he trust Midoriya? He was conflicted whether to say a thing or not but in the end he decided to tell him. "I can tell you but you have to promise me it will not go out to " 

Midoriya promised to keep it a secret.

"Michiyo told me before. About how she and Dabi got to know one another. Can I trust you not to tell anyone else about this?" He ended up telling Midoriya about how Michiyo and Dabi actually got along well with one another during Internship.

"Fighting Stain became a secret. I didn't know Michiyo-san have a secret of her own." 

"You know what Dabi is capable of."
