Aliss woke up from the same dream. The cracked gates was making it impossible for her to have a decent shut eye yet she had no clue what it meant and she made a promise not to find out anymore than they already did. Kimmy was displeased with Aliss's decision to call the hunt off but she respected the choice. Aliss did not know why Kimmy could not see the tiger man but she was glad they had put that lifestyle behind them. It was bound to turn messy in the end.

Aliss got up early pumped up for school. She wore a white long sleeve shirt with a sky blue sweater vest over it and a black mini skirt to match. She also packed her hair in a messy ponytail and applied light makeup. "Ready to be normal". She told a reflection of herself in the mirror.

"Morning Dad", she gave him a huge peck while he was whipping up breakfast, "did you sleep well?" Jim greeted her skeptically. "Are you okay honey?" He asked. "Yes", she replied ad she settled in her seat, "why wouldn't I be?"

"You seem a bit off. Did you sleep last night?"

"I slept like a baby. I'm okay Dad. From now on, you don't have to worry about me so much". "Ah", Jim nodded, "I see the problem now". "I just told you Dad, there is no problem". Jim sat across Aliss and held her hand, "I must admit that you got me worried when you were in coma", he said and cleared his throat, "but I am much more happy that you made it through. You're allowed to throw tantrums and be you. I want you to be comfortable above everything else. I'll be fine, okay?"

Aliss sighed and asked, "does that mean that I still have time to change? I think this skirt is pinching me". Jim let out a laugh and answered, "yeah, go change. And your hair looks better down than it does up". Aliss raced upstairs to change before Kimmy arrived to force her to school.

She ate her breakfast quickly and got a forehead kiss from her Dad. Kimmy took great delight in dragging her to the bus. "You seem awfully cheery today". Kimmy teased. "Dad makes the best meals". Was Aliss's excuse. The two sat quietly till they arrived at school.

Pine Ridge High was the only public high school in the town. There were some petitions to build another public high school but they lost almost half of their population to some affordable private school downtown.

Pine Ridge High was a fairly large school in terms of facilities. It was a one building school with several large rooms inside. There was an auditorium for occasional school assemblies, recitals and plays. The school also made provisions for every club to have it reserved meeting rooms. Fortunately, Pine Ridge High had only four active clubs; the Debate club, the Junior Engineers, Technicians and Scientists (JETS) club, the Math scholars club and Drama Club.

The major problem with the school was its staffing. It was highly understaffed. This was not due to the payment but coherent bribing of the staff by the new private school. Nevertheless, Aliss loved Pine Ridge High. She had no idea if she hated it before but it was the perfect to be in.

"Can't believe this is the last week of school before the winter break! Pinch me!" Kimmy squealed like a child on a sugar rush. "Trust me, you don't want me pinching you", Aliss chuckled and removed the needed books from her locker, "I'm just glad that homecoming is long gone and we don't have to suffer through any dances. Going solo did not work out for me".

Almost immediately, a girl pasted a poster on the wall behind them. "A Winter Yule?!" Aliss screamed while reading it, "are you kidding me?" "I was going to tell you", Kimmy twisted her fingers and rocked on her heels, "this was the seventh year in a row that we crushed the football league so they made last minute plans to celebrate".

Aliss was fuming in her head but said nothing. "I have to get to class". With that, she left. Kimmy desired to run after her but they didn't share the same period. Aliss's anger made her confused so in the end, she was late to Art class.
