Moving to a new house, to a new country, all alone, felt like a huge accomplishment. You smiled at yourself in the mirror and kissed your reflection. Through all the pain, through all the struggles, you grew up so beautifully.

It was a Sunday so you didn't have to worry about your 9-5. You took your time to clean the rooms, unpack all your luggage and finish all the chores. After you were done, you looked out of your window, into the neighborhood. The neighborhood was quiet and gloomy. There was no one on the streets, all curtains closed. Even at the evening, all the houses were dark and not a single one of them showed signs of life.

"Weird..."

You whispered to yourself. Your eyes scanned all over the neighborhood to stop at a single 5 storey building in the distance. It looked old and abandoned, the trees in its garden lifeless and dead, it's windows shattered. Only the fourth floor was lit but the light was flickering.

"Maybe someone does live there..."

You thought. You decided to check it out and maybe greet your new neighbours. You made your way through the lane, to that building. It gave you typical 00s haunted house vibes. You believed that the residents were either just fans of horror movies
or antisocial and designed their house in an unapproachable condition to avoid guests. You wondered if it would be rude to intrude on them but at the same time, it's rude to not know anything about your neighbours. You kight need them someday and they might need you to. It's only good to be in good terms with them.

You opened the gate and went inside. You looked at the rusted name plate which had the initials Y.JW engraved on it."

You knocked on the door but it was already unlocked. It opened with a screeching noise. It was dark and dusty inside.

"Hello...is anyone in here?"

You walked around the house to find any sign of life.

"I'm your new neighbour...there aren't many houses in here...and all of them are dark as if no one lives here...this was the only house I could find where there was light coming from...so I thought that I might check on my new neighbours..."

You didn't hear anything from the empty halls.

"I am Y/N..."

You decided to go upstairs to the room which had the flickering light on. You opened the door to the room to find no one. The floor was dusty, there were clothes scattered in bed, the sheets were old and faded, the glass of the window was shattered. The most unusual thing of all was the mirror. It had something written on it. You walked closer to stand infront of the mirror.

'Go back, Y/N'

Suddenly you saw the reflection of a boy standing behind you on the mirror. A boy of around your age, pale and lean, feline like eyes, with messy hair falling on his forehead.

You immediately turned around in horror but found no one. Your heart began beating rapidly as you made your way out from the building and ran away to your home.

The next few days, every evening you saw the lights flicker on the third floor of the building and whenever you looked at the thrid floor, you saw the face and it disappeared as soon as you looked at it. You unfortunately had to live there until you found a new house. The night before you were about to leave your house, the lights of your house suddenly went off. You tried to calm yourself and tried to fix the issue. You grabbed your torch and tried to find candles. You stumbled on something which caused the torch to fall from your hand and break. You cursed at yourself as you slowly, carefully, made your way to the kitchen to get the candles. While you were lighting the candle, you felt a presence behind you. You shook it off.

"Please don't go..."

You turned around with the candle in your hand. You clutched your chest and walked towards your room while holding the candle. When you reached your room, you stood infront of the mirror to see the boy behind you again. You screamed but he put his hand over your mouth.

"Shhhh. I took care of the man who was supposed to give his house to you for rent."

Just then your phone began ringing and it automatically received the call.

"Hello is this Y/N? Just had to inform you that the house you were supposed to live on rent got burnt down along with the owner and his family. Please start looking for another house to live in."

You looked with fear at the reflection of the boy on the mirror. He smirked.

"See. Now it's only you and me in this valley of isolation and darkness..."
