Hers~>

"Noor, wake up... wake up please..." Someone cried.

My eyes shot wide open, I was greeted with people flooded in the darkly lit hospital room, smiling with joy.

As I was trying to recollect my thoughts through my mind like a sharp headache, a man ran towards me. He looked roughly 50 and was tall with bloodshot eyes. He looked like he was crying, for what looked like weeks.

"Noor are you okay Ammu? You're okay... I thought we lost you. But Allah works in miraculous ways and you're here, you're finally here with me, Alhamdulilah." He reassured me with a smile, taking my hands in his, kissing my forehead gently.

I was taken aback.

Who was this man?

Where was my Abba?

I looked around shocked, staring at the joyous faces around me.
I took hold of the man's hands and tugged them off me.

"I'm sorry uncle, but I'm not your daughter. I'm sure she's somewhere around here." I try reassuring him with a sad smile. Poor guy, looking for his daughter.

His smile dropped, his eyelids downturned with confusion and the joyous faces around me slowly watched as the scene unfolded.

"Noor, what are you talking about it's me. It's me, it's your Abba." He stated with tears in his eyes.

"Noor cmon now's not the time to joke around, now give Abba a hug." A guy who looked around in his 20s says jokingly, with the same features as the man in front of me. They're probably father and son. But what are they doing in my room...

"What are you talking about? He's not my dad. Who are you people?" I shot back.

His eyes widened as he realised what I said and ran out of the room. Rushing back in with a doctors.

"I don't know what's happening right now doctor. But please do something, she's not making sense." The older man cries.

"Doctor I don't know who these people are please help me. Help him he's looking for his daughter." I pleaded.

The doctor finally registers the situation and holds me still as another injects me with something sharp. I'm frozen with fear.

What's happening?

"No, no you guys don't understand what's happening here! You guys need to help me! Help me! Help me please..." I scream as I fall back into the black haze.
The same black haze which consumed me before I awoke. And all I wanted to do now was stay there.

1 day later
"I'm sorry but due to the collision of your crash, you are currently suffering with traumatic brain injury. I'm sorry sweetie." The doctor gently says, with a sad smile.

"What does that mean?" I question warily.

"It basically means that due to the crash you cannot remember what happened before or after the incident. Your memory may come within a few days but there's a chance that this might be a symptom of a more serious condition, such as a traumatic brain injury." She says, taking my hand in hers.

I'm trying to register what is being told to me, but quite literally I've lost all memory as I've been told. I shake my head. Everything making sense.

"So those people before actually knew me? They weren't looking for anybody else?" I ask quietly.

"Yes that was your dad, Noor. He's decided that it was better if I told you this so you wouldn't be afraid." She says smiling.

"Oh my God. So he is actually my dad and that boy was my brother." I say, the pieces of the puzzle falling into place.

"Yes sweetie." The doctor says.

That man wasn't crazy. He's my Abba, I was wrong. I was so wrong. Lord, I feel so bad. I was raging at that man, my dad I mean, quickly correcting myself.

A few days pass and I'm finished getting changed into a black abaya and hijab, to get discharged. My brother, Samir comes into the room with Rasmalai mishti and a wide smile.

"I come bearing gifts." He says while feeding me one.

I can't lie it was kind of uncomfortable adjusting to the people who I thought were strangers, till they came with the photo books and old videos of when I was a child. And I felt relieved.

"Thank you bhaiya." I say while finishing the piece of mishti.

"No worries." He reassures me.
"Umm I wanted to say something actually. You know how you're getting discharged today and your memory is on the rusty side." He warily admits.

"Yh thanks for reminding me mate. What about it?" I respond, side eyeing him.

"Your friends, umm the ones who you were with before the crash are here to meet you." He admits with a shy grin.

"We decided it wasn't best to meet straight after the accident. Abba didn't want you to stress yourself. But it's totally your decision." He says looking down at his mishti.

Yallah, am I ready to meet anyone new. Looking back at my brother and my Abba coming through the doors I realise that they don't need the stress.

"Umm yh. I- I think it's fine." I nervously say.

"Hmm that doesn't really sound like your fine Noor." He states.

"No, no I think I- no I'm ready don't worry." I respond with a smile.

"If you're sure Ammu." Abba reassures me.

"Yep, I am Abba." I admit.

As we make our way out the hospital, to the car park. My dad and brother holding my bags, I'm greeted with bright, smiling faces. One wearing a beige coloured jilbab, and another wearing a light pink abaya and matching hijab.

"YALLAH NOOOR! I THOUGHT YOU WERE GONNA BE LOCKED IN THAT HOSPITAL FOR YEARS!" The pink girl shouts. Running towards me and finally stops after giving me a big hug.

"Hala, save me some room please." The other girl says, jumping on top of her.

"I- umm" looking at my Abba for help. He just stands there chuckling, before walking off to the car to drop off the bags.

"Guys you're going to crush her." A male voice interjects. My eyes avert to my right and I'm welcomed by a familiar hazel green eyes.

Where have I seen those before? I wondered to myself, as the two girls climbed off of me.

"I'm really sorry but after not seeing you for so long, it just felt so normal." The pink girl says apologetically, smiling.

"Umm how about we start with names?" The niqabi asks.

"Imagine this is just a big prank and she really knows our names." The pink girl whispers to the niqabi.

"Lemme guess, is your name Hala?" I enquire with a grin.

"Yo, who told her?" She questions whilst looking to person to person.

"Maybe your friend, before yall crushed me." I admit.

"Neha ugh, I really wanted her to guess." She sighs, annoyed.

"Ya rabbi, help me from this girl." The niqabi says under her breath.

As I witness this scene In front of me, I can't help but break into laughter. These girls are too funny.

We all climb into my Abba's car a few minutes later, after my brother gets into his. And I realise that the guy next to Hala before was gone.

"Umm you know that guy that was with you guys before. Who was he?" I ask with curiosity.

"Hala's brother." Neha responds.

"Oh."
