"Remind me why we're here again, Haadi?" Elias asked, as I unlocked the back door of the boxing gym.
"Okay, but you better be quiet Elias. I'm not joking." Haadi replied, making me and Elias turn to him.
"Shoot." I said, passing the keys back to him.
"I checked the motion detectors back at Samir's house and it's saying that there's movement coming from the gym." He said, quietly.
"Do you think somebody broke in?" Elias asked with wide eyes.
"I don't think he knows that yet, bro." I said, laughing.
"Be quiet alright. We'll separate so we'll cover more ground." Haadi whispered, as he entered the gym in the direction of the office with his phone flashlight.
I nodded and went to the ring, switching my flashlight on as well.
"I'll check the storage rooms." Elias whispered to me, as I gave a thumbs up in response.
As I cautiously checked the boxing ring area I heard scratches coming from the mats in the corner of the room.
I turned my head to the direction where the noise came from.
I slowly walked to the mats, noticing that whoever this is must be really small.
I brought the flashlight closer to the corner of the mats and to my surprise it wasn't an adult nor a kid.
It was a kitten.
The tiny kitten looked as though it wasn't cared for in weeks.
"Hey, hey it's okay." I whispered to the kitten, softly.
The kitten was shy at first when I brought my hand out to it, but began to move closer to me.
"Ma'Sha'Allah, that's it." I said, smiling at it.
As I petted the kitten I noticed it was a light grey colour with dark black striping.
I looked for a collar on it's neck, but no sign.
This kitten must've been either a stray or uncared for, making me stroke the back of its head with extra care.
I then called my brother to tell him the news.
"Haadi, I think I found our culprit." I said, grinning at the cute kitten in my arm.
"You did? Are you still in the ring?" He questioned.
"Yep, so bring Elias and come see for yourselves." I replied, trying to suppress my laughter.
A few moments later, they both ran into the room as if they had been chased by a car.
"Who is it?!" Elias shouted.
"Chill both of yall, this is the trouble maker." I whispered to him as I got up from my knees to show them the cuteness bundled up in my arm.
Haadi turned the light on and the kitten buried itself further in my arm.
"This was the one causing all the fuss?" Haadi said, laughing.
"Yep, this little guy." I said with a smile.
"Guy? How do you not know it's a girl?" Elias asked, stroking the kitten.
The guy was a sucker for kittens.
I'm not but now I've been rethinking my choices...
"I guess I'll take it to a vet and check. I mean it does look as though it has no owner." I replied.
