"Do you really think he's gonna be okay with me coming?" I ask Hala while leaving Neha's car.
"He'll be over the moon girl." Hala replied, nearly sprinting for the boxing gym.
"If you say so." I say under my breath, walking into the gym after her.
There were men training everywhere, Yallah.
I had to lower my gaze but didn't know where to go so I just followed wherever Hala went, which wasn't much help either since she was just going with the flow.
"Umm Khalil's office is there?" She asked herself, looking to the right.
"Hala how do you not know where your bothe-" I trail off, finding my gaze locked with a familiar hazel green ones.
Khalil looked a little off guard but tried to play it off. He began walking up to us and told us to come to his office.
"Noor you stay here, I'll just talk to Hala for a sec if that's okay?" Khalil asked whilst scratching his neck, not looking at me.
"Yhyh that's fine." I replied, quietly.
Hala and Khalil both left the office one after another, shutting the door.
I began looking around his office, which was quite spacious. It didn't really have much with a grey desk and a few cupboards.
To be honest, it was a little depressing. It lacked colour and personality.
The office needed a personal touch.
"Hey-" Khalil called out from the doorway.
I turned back in a daze and realised that Hala wasn't next to him.
"Yeah?" I asked, confused.
"Uh- you and Hala can stay in Haadi's office till I'm finished work." He replied, keeping one arm on the door.
All this time he wasn't really acting like himself, even though it was only a few minutes I'd seen him. Khalil looked like something was bothering him.
"Is there something wrong?" I asked, crossing my arms.
"What? Noor, no." He said, reluctantly.
"Khalil, you've been acting on edge since I've got here. What is it?" I reply.
He waited a few moments before answering, "Alright, when I came for my wallet at the university, Mason was with you. Listen, I'm not trying to be controlling but I just want to know where he stands."
"You're still jealous about Mason? Khalil he doesn't mean anything, we're classmates. That's all." I sigh.
His head tilts up to meet my gaze and breaks into a grin.
I roll my eyes as Khalil walks a few steps closer to his desk.
"Sorry if I was acting weird. I just want to know what's so funny that makes you laugh so much when you're around him?" He asks, jokingly.
"You really wanna hear about studying law, Khalil?" I reply, sarcastically.
He shakes his head 'no' and I giggle in response.
"Now that we've got that out of the way, I've got some teaching to do now." Khalil says as he opens the door, waiting for me to leave.
"Jazahkhallah." I reply, playing with the ends of my hijab.
"Only for my future wife." He says under his breath, not knowing I heard.
I smile to myself as Khalil makes his way to the boxing ring, greeting his students.
