It was Jummah and I left Elias's in a rush, quickly putting my grey thobe on and white Jordan's.
I was currently driving to my new house, a day before the engagement since the papers had to be signed and of course, I left it till the last minute.
With everything that was going on: getting married, picking out the suits, packing my things from Elias's and now owning 50% of the boxing gym, worn out was an understatement.
But it was all worth it if I could make her proud at the end of it.
In'Sha'Allah she likes it, I thought to myself.
After the engagement I was going to ask Noor if she wanted to come take a look at the house and pick out the furniture with me, of course with our families since it wasn't halal for us to be alone by ourselves yet.
I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket and saw it was my Baba calling.
I quickly put the phone on speaker and set it down on the dashboard as he spoke, "Asalamulaikum, Khalil are you busy?"
"Walaikumsalam, I'm just going to sign the papers for the house then I have to pick up the rings Baba. Why? Is everything okay?" I ask, arriving at the new place.
"Everything's fine Alhamdulilah but come over
once you're done. I want to give you something." He replies.
"Yeah, yeah sure Baba." I say, parking the car.
"Alright son, I'll see you later. Asalamulaikum." Baba said, hanging the phone.
I quickly put my phone away and take a look at the new house.
The house I bought was a 4 bedroom with 3 bathrooms and a spacious garden. I wanted to get a place with lots of bedrooms since we both had family that could stay whenever and of course for our kids in the future, In'Sha'Allah.
I also didn't want to get something small since i wanted somewhere to call home with her from the moment we had each other's names tied together.
I had always moved from house to house ever since I was young but I wanted a place where I could feel at peace.
Half an hour later I arrived to my Baba's, after signing the papers calling the house my home.
"Asalamulaikum, Baba. I have to go pick up the rings so what did you want to give me?" I asked whilst taking my shoes off.
"Walaikumsalam. About the ring.." He says, smiling.
Why was he in such a good mood?
Ma'Sha'Allah he's happy but he seems a bit eager today.
"What is it, Baba?" I ask, walking to the kitchen behind him.
"I have something of your mama's to give you." Baba replies, taking a small red box out of his pocket.
My mama's?
"What is it?" I say, curiously.
He slowly opens the box with care and reveals an intricate silver, embellished ring.
I look back to my Baba confused, "This is beautiful Baba but what am I supposed to do with this?"
Baba rolls his eyes and pats my back, "I want you to give this ring as Noor's engagement ring."
