Hers~>

It was the day before my Nikkah and myself, Amannah, Neha, Hala, Imaan and a few of my other cousins were all gathered at my house for a little brunch.

"Your Nikkah is literally tomorrow girl!!" Neha says with a wide smile.

I cover my face with my hands as I feel my cheeks becoming warm.

"She's gonna turn into a tomato." Amannah teases, waggling her brows.

"Affa!" I say, rolling my eyes.

"It's true, you look like you're gonna explode Noor!" Imaan says as she finishes Neha's mendhi as she couldn't last night.

"Okay that's enough of that, let's talk about what we're gonna do after brunch." I say, putting some samosa chaat in my mouth.

"Did you want to go somewhere later?" Amannah asks.

"I dunno." I reply, scratching my chin.

"Do you wanna have a movie night? I mean we can watch Bollywood movies till we're sleepy." Hala giggles.

"Hmm that sounds fun." My cousin Zara says with a grin.

"Or maybe do you wanna make gift bags for the kids in the mosque?" Neha asks, smiling.

Hmm, gift bags do sound like a good idea.

Not only does it increase your good deeds but it also is something productive to do before the Nikkah.

"Yeah, I like that." I reply, smiling back at her.

"Me too!" Hala interjects while drinking some lassi.

"Wait." Zara says while playing with her hair.

"Yeah?" I ask, turning to her.

"Shouldn't we do something fun? Like you guys go to the mosque all the time but today is the day before your Nikkah." She replies, shrugging.

I look to my sister, trying not to roll my eyes as she says, "Zara you're free to go if you don't like what we're doing but it's better than lounging about doing nothing all day."

"Oh my god, i just said let's do something fun Amannah!" Zara says with a jokey tone of voice.

"Noor I'm nearly done with Neha's mendhi. Do you think I can grab something to eat before I go?" Imaan asks.

"Yeah of course." I respond with a smile.

"Jazahkhallah." She says, cleaning her fingers.

Imaan has been a real help these past few days and since we weren't really that close in school I don't want it to be like that again, I think to myself.

"Wait one sec. Do you wanna stay today... and maybe come to the Nikkah tomorrow?" I ask, nervously.

"Are you sure?" She asks whilst flipping her hijab over.

"Of course." I nod.

Imaan instantly agrees as I see my cousin rolling her eyes in the corner.

What's her problem?

20 minutes later, we had all finished cleaning up brunch and Amannah, Neha and my cousins had all gone to the shops for some supplies for the gift bags.

Hala, Imaan, Zara and myself had stayed back to prep the bags as we had printed out some cute decorations and colouring sheets for the kids.

"Noori, I think someone's at the door for you." Samir called out from the other side of my door, surprising me and the others.
