Recap:
Without a word, Talia walked to the sofa, kicked off her boots and fell asleep immediately. Alaric chuckled as he threw a blanket over her. Lexi said something about seeing her boyfriend and she sped out. Alaric looked at his daughter, his eyes itching with lack of sleep.
"Get some sleep, Ric." Damon sighed. "I'll watch over her."
"I'm worried. About Elena. Talia and Jeremy. We can't even do anything now that the bastard has compelled her to jump off a damn bridge."
"We'll protect them. There's always Elijah!" Damon clapped Alaric on his shoulder,
Ric laughed softly, "night." Once Ric had left, Damon exhaled.
Damon looked down at sleeping Talia and sighed. "You're gonna be okay, kiddo." He murmured before picking her up and speeding her into one of the spare bedrooms. After he gently threw the duvet on her, he sped downstairs and sat in his armchair as he thought about Stefan.
Chapter 36:
It was 10:50am and the day after yesterday, when Klaus held them against their will in the gymnasium. Damon had dropped Ric and Talia off home an hour ago after they spent the night at the boarding house. Since yesterday, Stefan was still AWOL and Elena was frantic. Jeremy had left the house very early. Talia got out of her bed 30 minutes ago and was showered and dressed. Elena had stayed at Caroline's with Bonnie last night so it was just Talia, Ric and Jeremy.
Yawning after a restless night, Talia grabbed her bag and walked downstairs like a zombie. "Hey, Dad," Talia spoke as she walked into the kitchen, "I'm going to school to help Caroline. She just phoned me, frantic. Something about a winter ball."
"Okay, sweetie, will you be home for dinner?" Alaric asked as he poured himself a coffee. "I'll drop you off."
"Suppose so, aren't you coming to school, I'm sure it's your turn to supervise us. You know, the one who has to oversee the decorations for the lame ball?" Talia grabbed an apple. "It's okay, Tyler's here, he's giving me a lift. Or as you guys say, ride."
"Nah, Damon compelled someone else to do it, so I have a day off today, he's found some lead of the random vampire attacks."
"Oh, lucky you. I mean, not having to face an erratic Caroline and school today." Talia smiled and kissed her Dad on his cheek. "See you later, Mr gator."
Alaric chuckled as he heard the front door close. The brunette saw a red Ferrari in her drive way with the occupant engrossed in his phone. Smiling, she bounded up to the door and knocked. "Hey, Tyler." She smiled and he grinned.
"Hey, babe." He kissed her cheek.
"How are you feeling?" Talia asked anxiously.
"Alive," Tyler grinned. "I feel amazing!"
"Good to hear, I guess. You have practice, don't you?"
Tyler nodded as he started his sports car. He sped to the school and parked his car. "I have practice right now, babe, so I'll see you around 2." Tyler said as he grabbed his bag. Talia nodded as she looked over at the entrance. After last night's events, she did not feel like going in. "Are you okay?" Tyler murmured softly when Talia continued to stare.
"Yup, I'm just dandy." Talia chuckled as she walked towards the school, Tyler's arm around her shoulders.
*at 11:20am*
After 5 minutes of delaying, Talia walked into the gymnasium reluctantly as she remembered exactly what had happened here only yesterday. Staring at the spot where the hybrid had burned to death, she was surprised that it was smooth and polished, free from scorch marks. "Hey, you're here!"
