Recap:
Meanwhile, Talia was in Alaric's classroom, crying softly. Sniffling, she called someone on her phone.
"I'm at the school and I need you. I can't do this. It hurts too much."
Pastor's Ranch
It was morning. Pastor Young released the gas hose from the back of his stove. The Council was gathered in the house with him.
"Folks, by now, you know that the vampires have escaped." The members were passing vervain around. "And it won't be long before they retaliate against us. But fear not..." he locked the door. "...for I have been chosen to lead us in a movement."
"What are you talking about?" A member asked.
"Hear me, loved ones. Soon you'll be free to pass through the gates." The Pastor pulled a lighter out of his pocket "And we'll all reunite in eternity."
"Seriously, Pastor, what's going on here?"
"Friends. We are the beginning." He lights the lighter and the Council members screamed with fear before there was an explosion.
Chapter 66:
"What time's the funeral?"
"It was supposed to be an hour ago but Damon compelled them to wait. After the council...you know."
"Oh...where's Jeremy?"
"He's at work."
Caroline raised her eyebrows in surprise.
"Yeah," Elena sighed, "he said he wants to keep busy...not think about Ric."
"Understandable."
"Hm...hey, does this dress look...okay, for Ric's funeral later on?"
Caroline looked up and smiled sadly.
"You look nice...for the funeral."
Elena raised a smile and sighed before she pulled off her dress and put her shirt back on.
"What's up?" Caroline asked.
"It's Talia...she didn't come home. I'm worried she's gonna miss the funeral this afternoon."
"Oh...?"
"Yeah, I know she's grieving but I am seriously worried about her. Stefan and Damon couldn't find her."
"But how are you feeling, Elena?"
"I'm okay."
"You're not, Elena, I know you're craving blood."
"Is it that obvious?" Elena asked.
"Yup," Caroline spoke. "I was the same when I turned,"
There was a knock on the door and Stefan walked in.
"You ready?"
"Uh...for practice in the woods? Sure," Elena smiled at Caroline and walked out.
Meanwhile, in Fells Church, the town next to Mystic Falls, Talia was sitting alone, a scowl on her face as she mused on her thoughts. What am I supposed to do now, now that Dad's...gone?
"Here."
Talia looked up and smiled, snapping out of her torrid thoughts and accepting the hot beverage.
"Thanks, I appreciate it."
Klaus sat opposite her and watched her take the lid off her polystyrene cup and smell the drink.
