Recap:
"Oh, my God." Talia whispered as tears fell. She dropped her phone.
"What is it?" Klaus asked.
"Tyler's mum...she's dead."
Klaus did not say anything.
Talia noticed his silence and her heart thudded loudly, startling even Klaus.
"You didn't," Talia pleaded, "Please, Klaus, you didn't kill her? Tell me! Why aren't you saying anything?! Klaus!" Very suddenly, the colour drained from Talia's face as Klaus remained silent. "Oh, God." Talia's voice shook. "You killed Tyler's mum."
"Tali-" Klaus grabbed her arm.
"No," Talia pulled herself away from Klaus' reach. "Please, don't even try to justify Carol's murder...don't you dare."
"Tali-"
"I hate you!" Talia screamed.
A tear in his eye, Klaus sped off, leaving her all alone.
Talia stood there for a moment before she let out a heart rendering scream and fell to her knees as she sobbed.
After some time, it was 4AM. An exhausted Talia looked at the vast mansion she was standing in front of. She exhaled and walked in as her heart thudded. Minutes later, she was standing in front of Rebekah's coffin. Talia looked down at Rebekah's face and felt a strong sense of hate. Talia looked at the dagger in Rebekah's heart. Angry tears falling, Talia wrapped her hands around the dagger. She exhaled and pulled it out of Rebekah's chest. After she dropped it, Talia's eyes were suddenly cold as tears stopped. She touched her necklace as she waited for Rebekah to wake up.
She was yearning for revenge.
Chapter 77:
At Mystic Falls High School, everyone was gathered in the gym, holding candles. They listened as the Sheriff spoke.
"Carol Lockwood always said that togetherness, in times of tragedy, leads to healing. That one community is stronger than a thousand of its members. But how does a community stay strong after losing its leader? And Carol was so much more than just a mayor. She was..." Liz looked around, "An open-minded friend...And a concerned mother, taken from us too soon by a terrible accident."
Tyler stood up. "Screw this,"
Elena, Caroline and Bonnie looked at each other sadly.
"Please join me in observing a minute of silence in her memory," Liz continued.
Elena turned her head and saw Rebekah. She was surprised and when she looked again, Rebekah was gone.
"Are you okay?" Bonnie asked softly.
"I'll be right back," Elena left.
"Thank you very much. In the wake of this tragedy, the town has selected an interim mayor. Many of you already know him. Please welcome Mr. Rudy Hopkins."
The students applauded and Rudy rejoined Liz. "Thank you, sheriff. Carol Lockwood put this town first, and that's why I'm here to talk to you guys. You folks..."
Elena was alone in the hallway. She heard a noise and decided to follow it. It was April, who was at her locker. "April? What's wrong?"
"Nothing. I'm fine," April sniffed.
"But you're crying,"
"It's just the whole mayor thing. You know, it's bringing up stuff with my dad. And I know you're a vampire,"
