Recap:
Talia scanned through the letter again, her tears falling and blurring her vision. She was about to rip the letter up when her phone rang. Alaric's caller ID popped up and Talia sniffed and answered her phone.
Hello?
Where are you, sweetie? Jenna's getting worried and the others are here. You're not lost, are you.
No, no, I'm just at the park. I'll be there in half an hour.
Okay.
Actually, can you pick me up please?
Aw I won't be able to, kid. Sorry. I'll sent Damon. Is that okay?
What? Dad!! Why that jerk?
Just then another voice spoke.
Jerk speaking, too bad I'll have to pick you.
Ugh. Fine. Come soon please. It's getting a little dark now.
Hold the press! Talia Saltzman said please.
Whatever Damon. Hurry.
Talia put her iPhone back in her pocket and looked at the letter. After staring at it for a while, she decided to keep it as she stuffed it back into her envelope. She still couldn't believe they had the audacity to threaten her.
Chapter 13:
Talia was in her bathroom as she washed her face, ready for bed. She had a good day that was tinged with a little pain when she opened the letter. A million thoughts were rushing through her head as she patted her face dry. She looked in the mirror again and a woman was standing behind her. Talia gasped and looked at the space the woman would be standing behind her but nothing was there. She looked at the mirror again and her nervous reflection stared back.
Talia now scared and quickly rushed out of bathroom, shutting the door behind her. She got into her bed and tried to picture the woman. She had long brown hair, a cream dress and was eerily beautiful. She didn't look scary but rather like she wanted to say something to Talia, warn her perhaps.
Yawning, she began to doze off and was thinking about last night.
*FLASHBACK*
Damon's POV:
There's a million things I'd rather be doing than picking Talia up. Hell, I'd be at home, a girl in one hand and bourbon in the other. At least I can annoy Talia, one of the perks of being me. :)
I walked to my black Camaro and jumped in before racing down the road. Talia was at some park a couple of miles away. How the hell was she gonna come home walking, especially now that it's dark. Who knows what monsters lurk a round, targeting little girls? Me being one of the biggest monsters.
I drove and within a few minutes I had reached the park. Getting out of the car, I looked into the distance to find her but couldn't see her. However, I could hear a couple of fast paced heartbeats. I walked towards the sounds of the heartbeat and saw a couple making out. Grinning, I was about to jump out and scare them before I fed on them, but my phone buzzed and sighing, I took it out. It was Elena.
I'm at the Grill. Pick me up please.
I smirked, so my perfect brother and Elena had another fight. I was glad of this as it meant that Elena is more likely to return my advances. At first, I only wanted her because of her resemblance to my love, Katherine. But now it's something more, even though I'm not sure what.
