Chapter 14: The First Funeral

Recap:

Talia snuggled into her pillow and was not aware that her subconscious was taking her back to the night at the car park. Again, she dreamt that this time she was walking in the car park, just like that night. She felt like she was being watched and saw the very same woman who attacked her. The woman called for help and Talia ran to help before the woman jumped at her, face contorted. Talia turned in her sleep, as her mind played back the attack.

The woman was pulled off and Talia was the face of the man who saved her. It was a face she had definitely seen before. The man was Elijah. Talia jerked awake, beads of sweat on her forehead as she shook. She was terrified about the attack but after seeing it was Elijah who saved her, she had more questions than answers. Turning over to see her clock, she saw that it was 3 am. She snuggled back into her bed and closed her eyes, replaying the dream over and over again in her mind.

Chapter 14:

Waking up at exactly 7:30 am, Talia was about to make her way to the bathroom when she suddenly felt dizzy. She steadied herself against the wall and took a deep breath. "Damn," she whispered and she kept her eyes shut. Slowly her sudden wave of sickness was leaving her and she remained stood against her wall, the coldness tingling her spine.

Feeling better, she had a quick shower and was changed in 25 minutes. By 8 O clock, she was walking down the stairs when a visibly upset Jeremy pushed passed her and ran into the kitchen. Talia stood there confused before she carried on walking. Just then, Jenna ran from the living room into the kitchen, a phone stuck to her ear and tears down her face. Dread filled Talia, who thought something had happened to her dad or Elena. 

She herself thundered down the rest of the stairs and burst into the kitchen. She saw that Jenna was talking to someone on the phone. Elena and Bonnie were sitting quietly at the table and Jeremy was in the corner with Matt. Elena offered Talia a small smile and Matt walked to her before enveloping her in a hug.

Initially frozen, Talia hugged Matt back and asked shakily "What's happened? It's not Dad is it?" as a tear threatened to spill out.

"It's Rosie. She was killed last night. She's Jer's classmate and his friend. Was," Elena said sadly as she glanced at her brother. Talia gasped and Bonnie looked at her before walking over to Jeremy. 

Jenna finished her phone call and addressed the small group. "That was Lily, Rosie's mom. Her funeral is later on today and her memorial is too. Lily wants you all to wear something yellow as it was Rosie's favourite colour. I'm gonna change and go to their house," Jenna looked wary as looked at Talia. "Hey, honey," Jenna walked out of the kitchen. 

The others were quiet.

"Come on Jer." Bonnie spoke, "let's go to your room. We need to get you changed and make our way to the church. Tyler and Care are already there," Bonnie led herself and her boyfriend out.

Matt sighed as Elena put her arm around Talia. "Come on Tal. You gotta get changed too,"

Talia nodded and let Elena walk her up. 

When the kitchen was empty, Matt was about to walk into the living room when his phone started to ring. Seeing that Rebekah's caller ID popped up, he cut the call off. Scowling, he turned his phone off and walked outside to sit in his truck.

Elena's POV:

Talia and I were in her room and I was helping her to choose what to wear.

"I can't wear a dress because of the bruises, you know. When I walked into a door," Talia said as I rummaged through her closet.

Hang on. Walked into a door? I thought she slipped in the shower. I frowned and continued to flick through her clothes. "Here, how about this dress? Oh yeah its too un-funeral like. Ok, this will do," I said as I pulled some clothes off the hangers and handed them to Talia. She took them and walked into the bathroom after muttering thanks.
