AN: Cassie is played by a young Lucy Liu. Image is at the top.

Sorry for the late update, life pulled me away. Plus this chapter was actually hard to write, so I followed the episode called Ordinary People. Enjoy!

Recap:

"So, you've moved on?" Stefan asked.

"You can talk. Cassie was all over you." Elena fired back before she sighed. "I can't do this right now." She made to walk away.

"Why did you save me? Are you really that pathetic?" Stefan smirked.

"Because I still have hope," Elena said. "I know who you really are. Better than anyone, Stefan. I'm not giving up."

Stefan scoffed. "Elena. Do you have any idea how pathetic that makes you?"

"No, Stefan, it makes me strong," Elena whispered before stabbing him squarely in the stomach. Stefan doubled over and Damon emerged from the shadows as Stefan fell on the floor. "He's all yours," Elena mumbled as she walked away.

Chapter 43:

Talia's POV:

I stood in my bathroom as the water poured into the sink. My head swayed. What the hell happened last night? I can remember taking a bottle from some guys and then I walked away? My head was pounding and I immediately regretted whatever I did last night to warrant this pain. Ugh. I really am a glutton for punishment. At least I got home in one piece. I groaned as I tied back my hair and washed my face.

What the hell happened last night, seriously? It was all a blur. Well, I can remember being at the bonfire. I remember someone finding a body in the woods. I... what else happened? I was obviously brought home by someone I know. From what Damon told me a while back, vampires have to be invited in. So Elena and Caroline brought me home. I think. Ugh. I'm never drinking again. I walked to my walk in wardrobe and picked out some clothes. Ugh. I am never ever drinking again.

*Third person POV*

In the kitchen, Elena looked depressed as she stared into her coffee. She looked at the clock before she sighed. It was only 11AM.

"Want a refill?" Alaric asked and Elena did not reply. "Elena?" He asked and she looked up. "More coffee?"

Elena nodded as she held out her mug. Her phone rang and she swallowed the lump in her throat. "It... It's Damon." Alaric moved away to give her some privacy. "What's happening?" She asked in a tired voice. After a few seconds, she sighed. "I'm on my way, no Damon, you can't stop me, damn it!" She cut the call off and began to pull on her coat.

Alaric raised his eyebrows at Elena's tone of voice. The door opened and a sick looking Talia walked in, her eyes half shut. "I feel like shit." She mumbled as she buckled towards the breakfast bar. "I don't know what happened last night. Ugh, thank God it's Saturday. UGH."

"That'll teach you for drinking." Alaric chuckled as he handed his daughter a coffee. "Elena was binge drinking too."

"We're teens, Dad, what do you expect?" Talia smirked. She sipped her coffee and pulled a face. "Jeez, I don't like coffee. It tastes awful." looked at Elena, who looked sad. "Did I miss something?"

"Not much. Just the fact that a ghost who happened to be Matt's sister tried to kill me. I almost fell to my death and Stefan caught me. He taunted me and I stabbed him. He's in the town's old jail house and I'm gonna go there now. Apart from that, it was quiet night."

Talia's mouth was open as she listened. "Damn, at least you made time to bring me home!"

"I didn't." Elena frowned. "Ric, did you?"
