•Miriam's POV•

I patted her forehead dry with a white towel and watched as her chest rise and fell from breathing.

Her face was pale and void of any emotions as my fingers ran over the skin of her palm up to her shoulder.

My eyes burned from not blinking for so long as they fixated on the sleeping beauty laid on the hospital bed. I couldn't help but feel so lucky to have her in my life.

I don't deserve her but she chose me so I need to live up to her expectations and love this human woman till my last breath.

She's the first and she will be the last.

I leaned back and rubbed my eyes  glancing back at Ruelle to see her eyes already staring back at me.

All the black veins she had before was gone but she looked malnourished and I'll make it my priority that she regains her strength.

She tried leaning up but I stopped her.
"Hey, you need to stay put. You were just cut open" I said barely above a whisper.

"What did they inject me with she asked laying back down.

"They gave you my blood, but don't worry it wasn't enough to harm you in any way. Chantria did...well whatever to make all this work. You'll be fine" I answered and she nodded--closing her eyes with a sigh.

"I'm alive" she said and smiled running her fingers through her hair with a scoff.
My brows furrowed as I tighten my hold on her hand.

"Of course you are" I replied and she nodded.

"Can I get some water?" she asked and I stretched over to grab a bottle of water and poured it into a plastic cup and placed it at her lips as she drank slowly while keeping eye contact with me.

After finishing the cup I placed it down and turned it to her again and she smiled but it didn't reach her eyes, it didn't seem sincere.

"Where are they?" she asked and I smiled, happy she asked the one question I was dying to hear.

"They'll be with you soon. I'll just get to Chantria and come back" I said and stood up only to feel her grip my hand.

"I don't want to be alone" the words practically crawled from her small pouted lips.

I really don't like the energy I'm getting from her it feels....off.

"You won't. Martina will be in with you she's been waiting since forever" I said and walked out as Martina stood up walking towards me with a sleeping Zenith in hand.

"Is she awake?" she asked and I nodded telling her she could go ahead and talk to her.

I saw the other doctor talking to my brother and I walked over to them.

"Is there anything I need to know?" I asked and she smiled at me.

"Well good news is despite how things seemed the babies are absolutely fine and healthy. Bad news is you need to watch your wife. I can't say anything too specific....... but she did loose a lot of blood and her spine...was most likey affected by that fall.
Thankfully someone was there to help when it happened. Long term this spinal injury could affect her even if she says it feels totally fine now. There is some medications I'll prescribe for her and do a scan to see if there's anything we can identify.
Also she will need to stay in for at least 4 days so we can examine her and the babies. But that's it" she explained and I nodded.

"Thank you doctor" I said and she smiled and said "your welcome" while walking away.

"Where is Chantria?" I asked and Dio scoffed while shaking his head.
