Callie was still hurting the following day. Jada watched her hobble her way over to the counter and grab the counter for balance before continuing back to her seat hopping on one foot.

"Calliope," Jada sighed. "How many times do I have to tell you that you should probably get that checked out?"

"I'm okay," Callie immediately replied. "It's just going to hurt and be sore for a few days."

Jada grabbed both coffee mugs and headed over to the counter where she stood across from her wife sitting on one of the bar stools. "That's what you said yesterday and the day before that."

Setting Callie's coffee down in front of her, Jada rested her forearms on the counter and leaned against it. "For someone who's a doctor, you sure are pretty bad at taking the advice you give everyday."

"I am an orthopedic surgeon," Callie announced proudly.

"What's the difference?" Jada asked playfully as she rolled her eyes. "You're still a licensed medical doctor."

"Yeah, but I perform surgery. Normal doctors don't do that."

"And you're going to be performing surgery on your foot soon if you refuse to go and get it checked out."

"It's not broken," Callie protested. "Trust me, I know that."

"I'm not discrediting you," Jada answered softly before taking a sip of her coffee. "I know you know it's not broke. I'm just asking, what if there's something else going on you can't see or feel? What if you fractured your foot? I did it playing softball once and they found a crack in one of the bones. It shouldn't be hurting you this badly if it's not broken."

"Jaelynn, I'm okay," Callie replied. "I promise."

Jada raised an eyebrow. "I know you, Calliope. I know that you're not okay. I know how tough you are and how easily you can shake off the pain. This is the third day it's bothering you so I don't think that you're okay."

"I'm okay," Callie repeated.

"Will you at least check it out for me?" Jada asked. "If not for yourself then for me? Because I'm worried about you."

"I don't want anyone to see me," Callie said softly. "I'm supposed to be all big and badass."

"You are badass, Calliope," Jada encouraged. "I have no doubt you would sprint on that foot if Sofia or I were in danger."

"That's another reason," Callie pointed out. "We had plans with the girls this weekend and I still need to be able to protect you like I always do."

"I would rather know if you are okay or not before we focus on plans for this weekend."

"You really want me to check it out?" Callie asked.

"Yes!" Jada exclaimed.

Jada found herself sitting in Callie's office as she waited for her wife to come back with her test results. Callie ran an x-ray and a MRI on herself with help from one of the assistants. As much as Jada wanted to be in the room with her wife, they didn't want that radiation near the baby.

Callie was personally waiting on her test results and would be coming back to her office in a few minutes to look over the scans with Jada.

She relaxed back into the office chair and looked over pictures of their family on Callie's desk. Callie's desk was lined with framed photographs of their little family. Jada never realized how many photos Callie had not just on her desk, but lining the walls around her desk.

Jada's heart melted at the sight. She swore to herself that she would never, ever, hurt Callie again. Because Callie was an amazing woman that the world didn't even deserve. Out of everything in Callie's life, her accomplishments, or being Lynx, none of those were evident in her office. Only their little family.

It made Jada realize how much her own life had changed since meeting Callie. She never saw herself being a mother, let alone pregnant and soon to be bringing a baby into the world. Jada had thought that her family would be her, Michelle, and Grace. She wished she met Callie earlier, and wished she could've started her family sooner. Because now that she had it, Jada wouldn't trade anything.

Jada had a beautiful wife, an adorable little girl, and a baby girl on the way. She had everything she could ever of dreamed of.

Her daydream was cut short when the office door opened and Callie came in. Callie hobbled across the room and to the desk beside Jada where she set the folder down on the table.

"What did you find?" Jada asked.

Opening the folder, Callie's eyes immediately narrowed at the first scan. "Cals, what do you see?"

Callie groaned and before Jada could examine the scan herself, the folder was shut closed in front of her. "I have a small hairline fracture in my foot," Callie said.
