Jada just wanted alone time with Callie. Ever since arriving in NYC, she had not gotten Callie alone once. They flew through the night and arrived in New York in the early morning. Callie had already gone to one convention, and it seemed like everyone knew who she was. There was even paparazzi for her.
After it was confirmed that Jada and the girls would be accompanying Callie to New York, Callie had booked a new hotel room in her dad's hotel. They had an entire staff waiting on their every need, and these conventions Callie had to attend were fancy as hell.
Jada also learned how popular her wife was in the medical world. Everyone knew who Callie Torres was. Everyone knew about her research, and the amazing things she could do in surgery. There wasn't anything bone related Callie couldn't fix. Callie was like the Taylor Swift of the medical field.
Even though Jada knew she was going to be hanging with their daughters most of the trip, she thought she would at least get more time with Callie. She was considering flying her mom out here. Sofia and Riley were way too young to be attending the day long conferences with their mothers. But Jada also wanted to be Callie's wife. She wanted to be there to be proud of Callie's work.
Callie got invited to so many dinners and after parties, Jada was sure she wouldn't see her wife until the next morning. Sofia and Riley were now in bed and Jada was sprawled out on her and Callie's bed.
Reaching behind herself, Jada found her phone and called her mom.
"Hey honey."
"Hi, Mom," Jada replied as she rolled onto her side.
"You don't seem too thrilled," Michelle was quick to point out. "Everything alright?"
"I miss Callie," Jada said honestly. "I haven't seen her since we checked into the hotel at seven this morning. Sof and Riley are sleeping and I just miss her."
"I'm sorry honey," Michelle said softly.
"I knew that she was going to be gone all day before I agreed to come. I'm just not used to not seeing her all day. Everyone has their partners with them and I have to watch the girls all day so I don't get to be with her."
"Do you want me to come to New York?" Michelle asked.
"Mom, I can't ask that of you."
"Jaelynn, I love you, Callie, and my beautiful little granddaughters. I love spending time with all of you. I would be so happy to spend all day with Sofia and Riley."
"You're sure you want to come?" Jada asked.
"I'll get on a flight in the morning."
"What about the dogs, and Arizona and Grace."
Michelle just giggled softly. "Arizona and Grace can handle themselves. The dogs love them too."
"Thanks, Mom. I love you."
"I love you too, Jaelynn."
As Jada set down her phone onto the bed, she heard the lock on the door click, and in came the object of her affections.
"Hey babe," Callie said softly as she set down her bag on the kitchen table.
"Hey, beautiful."
Carlos Torres had given them the best of the best. They had an entire suite that was like a ranch house. And it was nice.
"I'm sorry I'm late. Some of the New York ortho team asked me to show them some things. I just left the lab."
"You've been in the lab all night?" Jada wondered.
Callie nodded. "I haven't had a chance to eat yet."
Jada's feet were suddenly in motion and she was heading into the kitchen. "I'm going to make you something."
Before Jada could make it to the kitchen, Callie intercepted her. "I was going to ask if you wanted to go for a walk. Then we could grab something to eat?"
"Are you sure?"
Callie nodded. "I'm sorry I was gone all day. I wasn't supposed to be gone this long. And I know you missed me. I could feel it."
"My mom is coming tomorrow so I can come with you," Jada told Callie.
Callie immediately smiled. "I really want you there," she said happily. "Everyone else has their partners and I just want my girl too."
Jada wrapped her arms around Callie and hugged her. "Who's going to watch the girls if we go for a walk?"
"My dad has some people here," Callie answered. "We'll just need to let Sof know."
"Okay."
Standing up on the front of her feet, Jada kissed Callie. "I'm going to tell Sof and I'm going to get my coat on."
"Grab a hat. It's freezing out there."
"Okay, baby!"
