Callie held Jada's hand tightly as they walked to the entrance of the club. She held Jada's left hand with her left as well, and had her right arm wrapped around her wife in an attempt to protect her from the blowing snow and wind outside.
Seattle was about to ring in the new year with a record breaking snowstorm. Jada was nervous about going out at night during this storm, but Callie had quickly reassured her that they had a Subaru, and they wouldn't be out too long.
"You have never experienced one of the hospital new year's parties," Callie said as she pulled open the door. "You're in for a treat."
The wind was so strong that it nearly knocked Jada off balance as she headed up the steps to the door. "I gotcha, baby girl," Callie said as she continued to grip her wife's hand tightly. She let go of the door which smacked against the building with a bang, and moved down to the lower step to grab Jada.
Callie stood to Jada's side as she wrapped her arms around her and helped her up onto the next step. The wind was howling in a gust and Jada was glad Callie thought to block her from that.
Feeling another gust coming, Callie pulled Jada against her chest, and blocked her once again. Callie reached for the doorknob and pulled, but the door wouldn't move. "It fucking froze in that wind," Callie muttered.
"Baby, maybe we should just head home before the weather gets worse."
She looked down at Jada with a smirk plastered across her face. "I got it, sweetheart. I don't workout for nothing."
Knowing that she was going to have to use some force, Callie grabbed the doorknob with her right hand and pulled. Having her arms wrapped around Callie, Jada could feel her body tense under her jacket as she pulled. Giving it another try, they both heard the ice crack as the door came free and Callie had to put in even more effort to swing it open against the strong gusts of wind. She helped Jada in before following her inside and letting the door slam behind them.
Callie took Jada's jacket off her shoulders and hung it up on the rack by the door before doing it with her own.
"So, you know all these people?" Jada asked as she looked around the club.
"Most of them," Callie answered.
"Torres!" somebody yelled from behind the bar counter. "I just rolled a new one!"
After spending a lot of time with her wife at the hospital, Jada got used to no longer reacting when someone called their last name. Calling Callie by her last name was something that was done a lot at the hospital, and Jada had quickly learned that whoever was calling their last name was wanting Callie.
Christina Yang appeared on the other side of the bar counter and handed what looked like a joint to Callie. That did track, as Jada immediately noticed the smell of weed upon entering.
"Just rolled," Christina said as she handed Callie a lighter as well. "It's from that guy Jackson knows."
"Hell yeah!" Callie then turned to Jada. "Babe, you want one?"
As much as Jada wanted to try, she knew it probably wasn't a good idea. "I probably shouldn't," she told Callie. "I don't want to pass any of that to Riley."
