#23 Haunted House

Speaks for itself. The gang is off to a haunted house for the weekend because they can. Regulus is unaware of James' gayness.

Everyone stood out the front of the house, staring up at the old building. Remus rolled his eyes as Sirius grabbed his hand,

"We go to school with ghosts and almost get killed every year, why is this house supposed to be any scarier than Hogwarts?"

Peter and Pandora were reading through the history pamphlet about the house and were telling Sirius spooky facts during random parts of the night to scare him.

Lily and Mary, Marlene and Dorcas were all looking around the garden at the different wild plants that were overgrown and crawling up the sides of the house.

Barty and Evan were planning when they could scare Regulus without having one of the unforgivable curses used on them. They figured now wasn't the best time as Regulus had his wand drawn, knocking on the old fence.

James walked up confidentially to the door and knocked as if he was going to get a response.

Lily rolled her eyes, "were you expecting someone to knock back?" she said with a hand on her hip.

James went to respond when a loud thud came from within the house, flinging everyone backwards.

James smiled smugly, "bit of courtesy never hurt anyone" he gestured to the now open door which everyone started walking towards.

The students lit their wands and began to search the foyer, a large space at the front of the house before a set of grand staircases were presented.

Regulus stared at the leaking ceiling and broken floors, "well I love what he's done with the place".

Everyone looked at each other then back at their surroundings,

"Well should we split up or stay together?"

"Have you ever read a horror book Sirius? We always stick together!"

"How about we go off in pairs?" Barty asked innocently, taking Evan's hand.

James nodded but soon realized he didn't have a partner, watching as everyone started pairing up.

Evan and Barty waved everyone off as they went into the kitchen, Marlene and Dorcas followed each other into the living room, Peter and Pandora went to investigate the dining room and Mary and Lily walked into the library, leaving the last four boys standing at the end of the stairs.

"Well Reg looks like it's you and me, want to take this upstairs?"

"Buy me dinner first Potter then I might consider it" Regulus smirked, as he began to follow James up the wooden planks.

Sirius was unsure about whether or not he trusted his brother with James but eventually had to follow Remus as he led him up the steps into a large corridor that had paintings hanging from every surface.

Regulus and James went down a separate path that led to a large living space with a fireplace and couches that were decorated with cushions of the expensive variety.

James turned to Regulus, beginning to make a snarky remark when he saw Regulus staring at the room with cold eyes. He walked closer to Regulus and placed his hand on his shoulder, rubbing it with his thumb as Regulus snapped back into reality.

Regulus stared at the living space with no emotion, the house was beginning to remind him too much of his family "home" and he hadn't come for that type of visit. Suddenly he felt a warm hand on him, rubbing his shoulder and calling his name gently, he turned to see James' smiling at him and quickly flicked his hand off.
