#18 The Bet

Idea 4: James and Regulus lose a bet to Sirius and Barty after a fun game of uno

Also no one can make up their mind about what Regulus' patronus would be so I said what I said

Sirius and Barty jumped off the couch high-fiving each other,

"SUCK IT PRONGS"

"FUCK YOU REGGIE"

Regulus and James sat in disbelief they had lost, James tilted his head back over the couch cursing and Regulus just slumped down onto the floor. James chucked his remaining cards onto the ground and looked at Regulus who was reluctantly staring back.

Sirius and Barty didn't usually get along but they had teamed up in a game of uno to annoy their best friends, Sirius also had a thought in mind that if Regulus actually got to know James he'd realize he's not a complete prick.

James rubbed the sides of his temple with his forefingers and looked up at Sirius who was still standing over him smiling, "fine what do you want us to do?"

Regulus hadn't taken his eyes off James but was sticking the finger up at Barty at the same time who walked over and kissed him on the cheek, Regulus brushing him away in disgust.

"We told you, the two of you are to spend some quality alone time together, no leaving each others side for 24 hours" Sirius smiled

"Where should we leave them Sirius? I feel like the dorms are too easy" Barty smiled as Regulus hissed at him

"The lighthouse."

"WHAT?!" The two boys shouted

"Oh come on it's perfect, lil spooky which you both like-"

"I don't ever remember saying that" James added

"Scared Potter?" Regulus grinned

"You wish" he said, not breaking Regulus' eye contact

"See getting along already! It's a private space, Barty and I will do a little clean up and check the place out before you go in, won't we?"

"Absolutely Sirius! I obviously care about their safety" he said rolling his eyes, Regulus kicked his ankle, "you're a horrible human being, I hope you know that" Regulus said still slouched over, "aww you think I'm human" Barty said, holding his cheeks.

After a "thorough" clean up and investigation, courtesy of Sirius and Barty, James and Regulus found themselves on the Lighthouse staircase. They each had a bag with them and their wands, they looked at each other with the same curiosity then started to walk up the stairs.

When they reached the top they realized it was a simple space, it had one bedroom, a bathroom which only had a singular bathtub rather than a shower. There was a small living area that had a fireplace, one clearly lit by magic and not real fire, which was accompanied by two couches that looked out over the water.

James placed his bag on one side of the bed then walked out into the living space, not acknowledging the fact there was one bed. Regulus stared at him in confusion, how he could be so calm with this, but decided he was going to remain neutral, so he placed his own bag on the other side of the bed and followed James to the living room.

The area was small but it was cozy, very different from the large, cold, simplistic home Regulus was used to. James seemed to settle quite nicely though, he lit the fire then sat on the couch and watched the waves crash against the rocks. Regulus was hesitant but eventually came over and sat next to James who smiled at him and then back at the waves.

"You seem to be enjoying yourself"

"You know, you have to spend 24 hours with me but they never said anything about actually having to talk to each other so if you'd prefer not-"
