It's sad. I'm sad. So we're all going to be sad.

Sirius watched as the last death eater fell, the spell she cast missing Sirius' body by mere inches. Sirius looked at the empty room, they had done it, they had really done it, now they just needed to get Remus. Sirius turned around to look for Regulus who had been standing next to him moments prior,

"Reggie we did it!! We- Reg? Reggie?!" Sirius' face went from eternal happiness to the overwhelming feeling of a broken heart in seconds as he watched his brother lay flat on the shredded carpet.

Regulus somehow laughed happily as Sirius bent down, holding him tightly, tears falling down his cheeks. He stared at the dagger that penetrated Regulus' chest, the symbol of the Black House engraved on the blade.

"You made it!" He laughed, "Go, go save James!" A singular tear fell down Regulus' face, "show Harry the stars for me" he smiled warmly before a white glaze appeared over his eyes and his lids fluttered shut as he fell limp into Sirius' arms.

Sirius pressed his face to Regulus' chest, collapsing when he felt his brothers beating heart fade and the drawing of his last breath wither.

Sirius screamed, he screamed until there was nothing left, he cried until the tears stopped appearing. He picked his brother up and held him tightly, Sirius shuttered as Remus finally appeared through the doors, clutching onto his own chest after having being injured in a different part of the house. Remus looked around at the dead bodies, at the shattered glass and broken furniture and then finally at Regulus and Sirius.

Remus was silent, he fell next to Sirius, holding him firmly and taking his hands. Sirius melted into Remus' chest, he looked up at Remus with glazed, red eyes, "it was all for James, it's always been for James"

Remus and Sirius both knew Regulus' love for James had never faded, not even after Harry's birth. As they had grown older and James and Lily married, Regulus remained a loyal friend and had even been asked to be Harry's godfather when they found out Lily was pregnant. Sirius always knew it broke Regulus' heart to stay quiet, to never mention the life they could've had but it would've hurt him more to break James and Lily, two people who he loved and cared for.

Sirius looked up at the stars from the shattered window behind them, "I'll show him the stars Reg, I promise" he lent over and kissed Regulus' forehead, beginning to cry again as Remus had to pull him away, knowing James and Lily were still in danger.

Harry and Sirius sat on the hill together, looking up at the stars, a tradition they had created every weekend Sirius was over. Sirius turned his head and smiled at Harry, "did your father ever mention your Uncle Reggie?"

Harry was still young, he hadn't even gotten his letter from Hogwarts yet, but he knew there were things his parents wanted to tell him, they just didn't think he was ready yet.

"Dad doesn't like talking about it and mamma cries, I know he loves me and dad says he watches over us"

"Do you know why I started bringing you to this hill? Every weekend, to watch the stars"

Harry shook his head in curiosity, Sirius smiled and got up, running down the hill and to the shed, pulling out James' old broom, "hop on kid".

Harry jumped onto the broom and held on tight as Sirius sat behind, keeping Harry close to him and taking off into the sky. Harry screamed with excitement then his face dropped as Sirius flew just above the clouds, high enough for Harry to see the stars more clearly than he had ever imagined.

Harry sat in adoration, pointing to different constellations, almost falling off when a shooting star flew past them. Sirius showed Harry every part of the night sky, he showed him his favourite stars and the moon, as well as a particular star that sat high in the sky, shining brighter than the rest, he pointed to the star and then faced Harry,

"That's my brother, your uncle Reggie"

Harry's eyes sparkled as he watched the bursts of bright white shimmer across the dark canvas which was the night sky.

James stood on the ground, watching as Sirius and Harry floated in the sky amongst the stars, he took in a deep breath of the crisp evening air and smiled as he felt a warm breeze embrace him,

James held himself and closed his eyes, no one would ever be able to replace Regulus, James loved his family more than anything but he knew he would never feel that same love again, the love that Regulus brought to his world, "we showed him the stars Reg".

I'm sorry, I watched the scene between Joy and Bing Bong from Inside Out again for the first time in like ages and then I was already in a sad mood and so I was like 'fuck it they have to deal with it too!' so here we are
