Magical world where James is on a quest to prove himself to be the greatest knight in his kingdom.

This is like a medieval fantasy world so think magical creatures, enchantments, the knights at the round table kinda vibes

James knew that if he was ever going to prove himself to the king, he would need to go on a quest that would prove his bravery and chivalry. James knew just what to do, enter the Tarragon Forest and find the philosophers stone.

The philosophers stone was something that had been lost for centuries, royalty from all walks of life having attempted to find the stone and bring it to their ruler. James knew that whichever kingdom possessed such an extraordinary item, would for sure become the strongest in the lands. If James could find the stone, perhaps he would become more than a knight or the King's right hand man, he could become a legend himself.

James was packing his bags, writing a short note he would leave on his parents' kitchen table for the morning, when he heard a knock against his window. James looked out and saw a man standing in the garden, James' horse on a leash in his hands.

James left the message on the table and walked out, smiling at his friend who had managed to sneak James' horse out of the stables.

"Are you sure about this?"

"If I'm going to bring honor to my family and prove myself to the king, then yes Remus, I have to do this"

"I'll miss you" Remus looked up at the sky, tomorrow would be a full moon and James would normally help get Remus to a safe spot during his transformation.

"I'll miss you more" James noticed where Remus' eyes were, "don't worry you'll have Sirius as well though and we both know he'll keep you safe...and well entertained"

Remus laughed then looked at James with a sigh, "Sirius is going to be pissed when he finds you gone"

"Yes well, this has to be a solo adventure and we both know Sirius would've done anything if it meant he came with me"

"I know I'm just the town's blacksmith, but even I need you to come home for the sake of...everyone"

"For the record, you're not just any old blacksmith, you help create the armor and weaponry for the Royal Guards, also I'll be ok! I've fought many battles, and if I truly can't find anything, I will come home"

"I know, but James there is a fine line difference between being a genius and an idiot, you use that line like a fucking jump rope."

James started laughing, "maybe so but I also know that I have family and friends who need me back home. If the worst comes to bite me, I'll head straight back, I promise"

James gave Remus a pinky promise and then walked over to his horse, attaching his bag and mounting the saddle. He tapped the horse's back and it began to slowly trot away, James looked back to see Remus wave before he disappeared back into the darkness.

James continued through the town until he reached the end of the last village, looking back at the distant castle and the small houses that surrounded the land. James turned to the track, taking a deep breath and continuing down the dirt road.

The following morning had arrived and James found himself out the front of a large archway that lead into the forest. James looked into the woodland scenery and some part of him felt that bringing his horse with him wouldn't end well.

James turned to his horse, hugging him and smiling as he felt the horse lean its head on James' shoulder. James took his bags off of the back of the horse and slugged them over his shoulders.
