#48 James in Wonderland (Part Three)

I love how literally no one knows where this is going and we're all just guessing

Also I'm soooo sleep deprived and have had a not so ✨fabulous✨day so if this feels like shittier writing than my usual flow, probs because it is ✌🏻

The party continued down the road, Lily happily sitting on Sirius' hat while they watched Pete jump off each of the trees in excitement, everyone still singing along to the very merry unbirthday song.

James felt like he was walking along with lifelong friends, Sirius, Lily and Peter didn't feel like strangers he had met only that day. He thought about that, frankly Miss Dorcas and Cheshire didn't feel at all out of place either, even Remus sounded somewhat familiar.

Suddenly Sirius stopped and the group turned to look at him, he face went pale and his eyes were so dilated they were practically black, he told everyone to keep their mouths shut.

"Sir-"

"Hatter" Sirius corrected James. James looked in the direction of where Sirius was staring, Lily drew out her small pin and Pete jumped in front of James. James held onto his satchel and tried to push any unwanted thoughts away before something bounded towards them.

James screamed before Sirius covered his mouth, James looked down and his heartbeat calmed when he saw a dog, just a regular looking dog.

"Prongs" the dog whispered, that was the code word, Sirius' shoulders relaxed and he knelt down so him and the dog were now at eye level.

"Hey Barty, what are you doing out here? I thought you and Evan were going to meet us at the Castle?"

"They took Evan, I started hunting them down but they were too fast and I lost his scent. Glad I found you, haven't been able to find the castle, it's like there's something blocking me from being able to track anything"

"Oh no" Lily looked down, "wait what about Mary and Marlene? Are they still with you?"

"Marlene left to get Dorcas until we can all make it back to the door...Mary was taken with Evan"

Lily started pacing back and forth, Sirius picked her up off of his hat and placed her on his shoulder, "it'll be alright Lils. You know Marlene, she can handle herself and will be safe. We're all going to go to the castle and make a plan to get Evan and Mary back"

"Sirius what about-"

Sirius glared at Peter coldly, "he won't leave the forest, you already know this, plus he knows the way better than any of us"

"I'll meet you at the castle starlight"

James turned around to see where the voice had come from, for a moment he swore he saw a flash of green eyes in the branches.

"Starlight" he whispered to himself, the group turned to look at him but James quickly looked back and straightened his shoulders, "hello I'm James"

Barty huffed and looked James up and down, "I know, we've been waiting for you to arrive. You're not normally this late, what's happened?"

"Not normally-"

"He doesn't remember" Peter interjected and the dog somehow gave James a skeptical look. Sirius could see the tension in his group and there was no time to waste if Mary and Evan were gone, they were going to need the whole gang if James was going to get out of here.

Everyone followed Sirius as they made their way to the White Castle, James tried to keep up but just as they were about to leave the forest, James felt a tugging sensation pulling him back in.
