James stood at the end of the grave, he knelt down and placed the wreath of flowers in front of the headstone. It was Christmas Eve and it had been exactly three years since Regulus Black died.

James had been coming to the graveyard every Christmas Eve since, keeping Regulus updated on what's been happening in everyone's lives so that he didn't feel left out. He told him about Sirius and Remus' wedding, how Dorcas and Marlene had just begun their trip around Europe and how Barty finally proposed to Evan.

James watched the stars, knowing Regulus would be there looking down on him.

"It feels wrong without you Reg but I'm trying, I don't stay in my room as much anymore because I know you'd tell me to get my shit together and get out of bed" James laughed to himself but then frowned when he got no response, he didn't know what he was expecting to happen but part of him had hope that this was all just a bad dream, that he'd wake up and be lying in bed with Regulus like they use to.

James' eyes began to tear, he faced the headstone again and rested his forehead against it, letting the tears come back.

"I'm going to bring you home Reggie, I don't care what ends of the fucking world I have to go to, there's not a place I won't go if it means you come home to me"

James paused then shook his head, listening to himself as he wiped his face, "what am I talking about, I can't fly that high" he smiled at Regulus' grave then looked at the stars.

"I'll see you soon love, just promise me you'll wait"

James adjusted his jacket, kissing the top of the headstone and making his way out of the graveyard back to Sirius and Remus' house.

Sirius heard a noise come from outside so he went to investigate, he brought out his wand and crept amongst the gardens, listening for any abnormal noises. Sirius let his guard down for a moment and allowed himself to stay still and take in the evening air.

Before Sirius knew it, he saw a light illuminating from the bushes, he looked around but saw no one. With his wand in hand, Sirius came closer to the bristle of bushes and when he pulled back the branches two glowing blue eyes looked up at him.

Sirius watched as the small, bright cat exited the garden and began to head for the forest. Sirius knew Remus would give him hell for this later because it was Christmas but his curiosity took over and he followed the cat, pulling his wand out and lighting his path as he entered the dark woods.

Sirius looked around, peering through trees as he watched the cat duck under branches and jump over logs, disappearing into the thicket. Sirius watched the blue light disappear, he followed in the direction of the cat's disappearance but eventually coming to a stop as he reached a small pond.

He looked down at his reflection and sighed, whatever chaos he was seeking had left, maybe the cat was just his imagination assuming he was still on his way to detention with Minnie even after their school years were over.

He poked the pond with his foot and watched the water ripple out, he thought fondly of the cat, maybe it was Regulus coming to say hi. Sirius wished that was the case but an animagus could only be formed by the living, Sirius stared at the water, and Regulus was long gone.

Sirius was about to head out when he heard the snap of a stick come from his left, his eyes widened as a figure quickly moved through the forest. Sirius followed the man, jumping off the path and sprinting through the trees.

Sirius reached a clearing and went to scream when the man covered his mouth, the next thing Sirius knew he was passing out and the world turned black.

Sirius woke up in a leaking cave, he looked around at the cold room and then to a carved out step where Regulus was sitting. Regulus stared at Sirius with caution, still holding his wand, not knowing how Sirius was going to react.
