#25 Green Fields of France (Part 2)

Aight part 2 let's goooo

Regulus lay on his bed, staring up at the ceiling while dreaming about his new acquaintance. Regulus and James had spoken for hours and got along so well but in reality Regulus had only known him, not even a day, so he couldn't have a solid opinion on him.

"Handsome, funny, musician" Regulus smiled, "I could definitely get used to that".

Regulus hadn't felt the need to smoke all day until he heard the sound of an elf on the other side of the door letting him know dinner would be coming out soon. Regulus thanked the elf then walked over to his balcony, lighting a cigarette and taking a deep inhale of the numbing smoke.

Regulus watched the bud burn slowly with each breath until he put the last bit out into the worn ashtray. He walked over to his dresser, spraying cologne on himself before heading down the stairs to the dining room where he was met with a woman.

His mother had "that voice" on so he knew this was someone she didn't want to scare away, that made it all the more frightening for Regulus though to see his mother being nice.

"Darling"

Regulus didn't respond, he genuinely didn't think she was talking to him because she never called him that.

"Regulus honey"

"Yes?" Regulus was terrified of his mothers "sweet" voice, it meant she was going to take her anger that she couldn't express now out on him later.

"This is Miss Mariah Marsh"

Regulus bowed his head, "it's lovely to meet you, madam"

"Merci Monsieur Black, the pleasure is all mine"

"Are you a guest with us this evening?"

"Oh your mother has not told you?"

Regulus turned to his mother as politely as he could, gesturing for her to explain what this woman was talking about.

"I am hosting a ball here at the mansion Reggie, Mariah will be your misses for the night since many people will be visiting"

"A ball?" Regulus had an idea of a ball tonight but it did not refer to dancing, "what are we celebrating?"

"Just our wealth and success, we're inviting all our trade partners, successors and of course our wonderful friends and family to join us and feast"

"Sounds like an eventful evening, I hope you enjoy your stay Miss Marsh, please call me if you need anything, the house elves are very welcoming"

Regulus bowed once more than walked back up the staircase, fuck dinner, he needed to work out how to get out of a forced relationship now.

Regulus lay on his bed, this time with his head buried in the pillows when he heard a knock on his window, as he opened the doors and looked over his balcony he saw a familiar face clinging to the side of the stone railing.

"Hey Juliet" James smiled, looking up at Regulus happily, glad that he hit the right bedroom window.

Regulus pulled James up onto the balcony and into his room, staring at him in shock, "how did you- why did you- what are you doing here?"

Neither of the boys understood what happened in that moment but somehow it ended in a kiss, James wrapped his arms around Regulus' waist as Regulus wrapped his arms around James' neck.

They pulled back from each other and laughed, James stared into Regulus' eyes as the pools of blue and grey illuminated with a pearlescent white from the moonlight.
