Regulus stood in front of the portrait nervously, he didn't know why he was nervous, there was no reason to be. Regulus knew most of the people in there, whether that was directly or indirectly but he knew them nonetheless so he wasn't sure why he was so anxious.

Regulus went to touch the painting when the portrait suddenly opened, Regulus looked up to see a tall boy with shaggy brown hair, an oversized sweater and a scarred face staring down at him. Regulus might've been slightly scared if he didn't know who this was but to his relief it was Remus, a Gryffindor who had always been kind to Regulus.

"Hey Regulus, we were expecting you" Remus moved so Regulus could walk past him into the common room,

"We?"

"Yeah Sirius and I's mates"

Regulus looked at him with private school, posh boy confusion but then realised he was talking about their friends, he smiled politely and nodded but he would never get over Remus' accent, it had definitely begun to fade but you could still hear it come through every now and again.

Regulus stepped over the frame and into the common room, he looked around at the draping red curtains and soft rugs, the cozy couches and warm fireplace that gave extra light to the room, the complete opposite of the pristine clean common room that was Slytherin house. Regulus admired the comfortable nature of the room, it was like his dream book nook but he did still appreciate the more modern, spacious design Slytherin had.

"I'll run upstairs and grab Sirius, oi prongs! James will keep you company while I'm gone aight"

"Yeah sure thanks" Regulus smiled and Remus pat the back of his shoulder before walking upstairs.

James strutted over and met Regulus' eye, he paused for a moment, letting Regulus study him, watching as Regulus observed his movements and expressions. Regulus eyed James down, part of him admiring James' physique, the other part searching for a reason to shut him out.

James stared at Regulus, everything about him was elegant, almost artistic. His movements were perfectly poised, his demeanor was charming and his tone was delicate. Regulus' eyes were grey with a mixture of bright blues that struck through like lightning, his cheekbones were high and his jawline was sharp, his lips were even and brushed with a soft pink that complimented the freckles that scattered across his nose and cheeks like constellations. Regulus' skin was paler than James' but smooth and almost porcelain like, he had a toned, lean figure that posed perfectly from every angle.

Regulus looked James up and down, watching as he stared at Regulus speechless. James' skin had a sun-kiss glow, he was more muscular than Regulus and taller but not in a way that was intimidating more in an athletic sense. His eyes were different shades of brown with bright flecks of amber and gold highlighting different parts of his iris, his lips were tan and sat evenly apart, he had freckles on his arms and collarbone, a couple on his face. His rolled up sleeves exposed the muscle in his arms and the strength in his hands as he crossed them. He had a golden, play boy charm that people couldn't resist.

James sat on the couch and gestured for Regulus to come over, the two ignoring the fact he had just been drooling over Regulus in silence for two minutes. Regulus came and sat down, he really liked James but he tended to avoid him outside of quidditch because he was Sirius' best friend but he realized if Sirius was really committed to being a brother again, he was allowed to talk to James now.

James on the other hand was utterly freaking out, Regulus had been completely off limits because of his relationship with Sirius but now that the two were back together James would probably be seeing a lot more of Regulus outside of just quidditch. As soon as James had seen Regulus on the field, when they played against each other for the first time, he immediately fell head over heels and for months had been trying to keep it a secret from Sirius.
